Remembering Kerry

Quote:
Although I'd qualify it with a not a general getting rid of this statue or that statue. However, Councils and Mayors where elected do need to not only look but act on those offended by these monuments Especially to individuals who actively undertook and even arranged persecution or demoralising of others and races. There are several statues I personally for different reasons find an affront to my personal thinking. I know I can't get them removed. That statue in Bristol, there have been calls for that to be removed for a good while. Some of the names in streets there are in my view offensive too. It is really good and overdue to now rightly look at just what is offensive to people and races in our cities. I'd hope a lot of moves are heading into being now. Your comment, of the reasoning of them being there as being given as, how they were and acted as being the norm. Is, as you say just not good enough. Since how some of them acted should NEVER have been 'A" or the norm anyway. |
