It's not really all that different to the Church. The amount of money in the Catholic Church for example, is dumbfounding.
The reason individual priests don't go around charging is because they've bought into it themselves, and are really just repeating the tried and tested "stock phrases" on the ground level. It's like a supernatural pyramid scheme. |
