I did that once, when younger and before I had kids actually. She was very young..maybe about 17 ish. Dirty, freezing. I let her kip on my sofa and have a bath and get all cleaned up. I even bought her some new clothes the next day and gave her 20 quid to go to a shelter.

I obviously couldn't do stuff like that now though, as I wouldn't have strangers in the house with my children.

Not all (or many) homeless people are there by choice. Its usually a string of terrible luck. This girl was thrown out by her alcoholic mother and had nowhere to go as she had no friends in the area having just moved there. She had been beaten and sexually assaulted in the 5 days she had slept rough.
