By the way, life isn't a fairy tale, sharks often finish first. At some point, you need to be ruthless and cut throat to be a leader in Business situations.
I could say it's the same in sports (as a sportsman myself) because you need to be strong, tough and play it nasty sometimes but it depends on the context.
Being nice in life will somehow gets your screwed big time.

My life is pretty damn good atm but I've had some pretty dodgy decisions/situations to get it there ... would be nowhere near the same if I was nice

Exactly. By always saying yes and showing you're too available, people won't see the red line and good luck to bring it back. Like I said, you're screwed at the point.

Don't agree! You can certainly be nice but savvy - and in contrast - a thick shark. It's intelligence that begets success - not playing it nasty!

I'm pretty intelligent (did very well in school/college) and I'm much more aware of situations than people realise I am ... and I use that to get my own way by twisting other people

So I wouldn't say its intelligence itself that gets you somewhere, its how you use it. Like say if I have a degree, I can get a better job. But what about using your mind and other people to get another job which is just as well paid as the one you could get?

But the main quality of a a shark is the intelligence and the ability to think good and fast. Sometimes hard-working and a smile don't work, you need to play it slowly but clever.

But it's how you use it that matters. Imagine this: you work you ass off at work by making money to get a promotion. You're clever, nice and never complains yet you didn't get your promotion but your colleague did. Why ? Because he managed to use his brain to get further than you by having less good performances.
