Here's a near first on political matters recently.

I actually agree with every word of your post above.

Nor me. I still don't like it much. Can't imagine having to drink luke-warm milk on a hot day.

One of the best times of the day was Milk time, usually with a dry biscuit.

I hate milk but when I was in primary school alot of the kids got those little glass bottles at lunchtime delivered and it seemed to be the best thing ever for them. I always wished I liked milk it looks really nice

I never understood the milk thing. I mean, it was introduced in the early forties when food was rationed and poor families were struggling. By the time milk was removed around 1970, we were doing rather better.

If I didn't drink my milk, I'd have only been good enough to play for Accrington Stanley.

Well I went to a rural Irish school, we brought our own milk or in my case Cocoa in the cold weather in a flask if my Mom ran out of cocoa she sent us with hot milk, and never told us as she knew we would moan, I can still see the shock on my brothers face when he was pouring it out

Well she defo deserves a statue...does it matter where it goes though? Unless it is being moved due to threats that is....then that matters...a lot.

However that's what makes politics interesting to debate.

You're an adorable member and we agree on much more important topics.

I rated Margaret Thatcher for her strength .she looked the statesperson all through.
She never took a sledgehammer to the most vulnerable sick and disabled.
She came to power when the UK was near ungovernable.
The Unions far too extreme, even against Labour their own Party in government.

No government or PM does all right or wrong.
What she did was make the UK look strong and she always fought determinedly the UKs corner.

She made bad decisions too of course but she must go down as one of the most formidable leaders ever, a strong PM and her debating skills were second to none.

we shouldn't underestimate Thatchers role in bringing down the USSR and re-uniting Germany either. She forced Reagan into the dialogue he had with the Russians. That in itself deserves a statue.

Not in re-uniting Germany, Bots. She was very much opposed to that and did everything to stop it.

I like that kind of friendship Joey where we can have totally opposite opinions but still know we are friends even though it gets heated sometimes and I agree whatever you thought of Thatcher she was a one off and very strong PM.

She was worried about a united Germany because like many of her generation, she could never trust the Germans, and that's understandable. But she even Gorbachev says she was instrumental as a world leader in support for Glasnost.

wasn't judging her, simply correcting Bots; and she was wrong, Germany is a great stabilizing force in Europe

seems to be a sensible way to deal with divisive figures; I bet Cromwell didn't get his statue(s) in the living memory of him either

toying with an idea of a dedicated thread for my avatars
