However I have encountered some vegans who are really preachy and try and shame others, I used to work with a guy and he would share videos of slaughter houses and say anyone who ate a burger was complicit in animals deaths for consumption. I think shaming people is wrong, I wont lie though, my choice to return to not eating meat was to do with conditions the animals suffer but it's not my business how others feel. My family all eat meat and my boyfriend does too.
I simple wouldn't like to eat an animal who was most likely treated incredibly cruelly before being killed for me to eat when I get no real enjoyment from it.

Vegans get a bad name as being preachy because a few of them are but alot aren't either. My sons karate teacher is a vegan, I only found that out recently and I've known him years because he doesn't protest or preach to people. Making massive generalisations about Vegans being up their own arses is stupid and ignorant imo.
I'm a vegetarian, I only get into discussions about it if I'm asked and tbh most of those conversations become some sort of a game of "gotcha" almost everytime. It's tedious. Meat eaters can be just as "up their own arses" as anyone else
Also, when someone asks you about it and you tell them your opinions on it and then turn around offended or complain of being "preached to" that's more like a trap
