I mean it's to do with wanting someone completely different in there, lets be honest here, Fianna Fail and Fine Gael may as well be the same party and they certainly know how to look after themselves and their cronies. Sinn Fein just offer something completely different ad people are curious to see how they would do. We've never ever had anyone other than Fianna fail or Fine Gael run the country, I'd like to see them have a shot at it. It's almost impossible for that to happen though because they don't have enough people running and the bigger parties won't get into bed with them

I wouldn't really know how similar those were tbh Arista as I didn't live under their governments but the impression I get from an outsider looking in on your news, forums etc is that Labour is left leaning and Conservatives are more right? Where as I'd consider both Fianna Fail and Fine Gael to be quite Centre(maybe a little right leaning compared to other parties in Ireland) with very little difference in their policies and goals

Yeah I know, I think they have 42 candidates running and you'd need around 80 to have a majority so It's almost guaranteed to be Fianna fail or Fine Gael

With Labour and the Conservatives running the country you mean? You've still not had a third party come through and really upset that status quo though, have you?

Sinn Fein did really well though Niamh, going back to the ROI Election.
