I'm not sure about, the film industry is constantly criticised for its lack of diversity both in race and also in gender and class. Arts and entertainment ranks in the five least diverse industries here:

That's why Fox strikes a chord with people who are suspicious of actors making token gestures and telling them how to think when they enjoy huge wealth and comfort and work in a sector which is much more problematic than most blue collar industries
