I get chronic sinusitis with most colds and it's the same (zero sense of taste and smell, might as well be chewing on cardboard) and I
hate it... it makes me genuinely miserable. I get properly down about it. But that usually only lasts 2 - 3 days, the longest I think was about 9 days (I got paranoid that it was forever on about day 6).
I can't imagine it going on for weeks/months

... I'd lose a tonne of weight and muscle mass... my wife has to remind me to eat when it happens because I just can't be bothered sitting chewing away on what feels like nothing. I end up just eating dry slices of bread or a handful of crackers because why bother making anything?
