I think the difference that I'm trying to say is that GOT had more going on than just who's gonna marry who, from the pilot alone we had the Whitewalkers being established, Daenerys and Viserys being on the other side of the world in hiding from the people from Westeros and slowly gather an army to take Kings Landing back, Bran being shoved out of a window after discovering Incest between Jaime & Cersei (which I remember they had to keep it a secret) but for some reason HOTD acts like incest is the vogue thing to do. Yes but Game of Thrones was a much wider scale book series/show, HOTD is literally about one family, a family we got to know briefly from GOTs and a lot of people wanted to see a bit more of their history etc they'd pretty much been completely wiped out by the end of GOTs

I get that to some extent.

Imo though a Show based in the GOT universe needs more going on than who's gonna marry who, because the franchise has set a certain standard after 8 Seasons of the original Show that more bigger scale plots are meant to happen.

Spin-Offs should experiment to an extent, but imo weakening the plot to the point that HOTD has is disappointing imo, it's like when Caprica came out as the spin-off to Battlestar Galactica all over again for me.

It depends on the spin off though, if they did a spin off of Arya and her travels into the unmapped west of westros, that would be much less about marriage and lineage and heirs than a story about one family and their rises and fall to the the Iron throne. A spin off about Jon Snow and his life in the "wild" North would be different etc

A Jon Snow show show is in the pipeline. Hope he finds Drogon and burns Bran and his dull fcuking stories to ashes.

I'd have preferred an Arya Spin off personally but I'll watch whatever they make The Bran story line turned out to be a damp squib alright. Seems like his only real purpose in the end was to reveal who Jon Snows parents were.

Interesting about Drogon though, since Jon is part tragaryn he could get to claim him if he finds him

I think there could be more to the bran/jon spinoff. Obviously those wearwood trees aren't in it for the greater good, and bran flat out saying "why do you think I came all this way?" in that stupid meeting hints at the fact he knew a lot more than he let on.

Emilia is supposed to be in the spin off, so maybe some blood magic or maybe flashbacks of some sort?

I liked Arya through the show but the last couple of seasons ruined her. Not her fault (they did the same to jon), so I'd guess there is less interest in seeing her again from the wider public. Everyone watched Jon in the thick of it for more seasons, and then were let down by "muh queen, I don't want it," so more people probably want to see him rehabilitated.

What about a Daenerys spin off which starts with her awaking from a dream / nightmare but really everything is just fine and dandy with her and John Snow ..

An example of an interesting plot for HOTD imo that could work for the Show is one where trouble is brewing between the Targaryens and another house, and there's a traitor in Kings Landing leaking intel to the enemy house about their strategies and other stuff (I'm not a writer so I'm coming up with a rough sketch) and basically the King & Rhaenyra have to try and figure out who the traitor is, plus trying to stop an out and out war from breaking out.

I'm probably explaining it in a rough way, but it's more than what HOTD is currently displaying imo.

Tbf to HOTD though I think it's a trend to make Shows with really basic plotting, hopefully a trend that dies very soon.
