I did used to go watch Hull city in the late 80s when they were in the old division 1. Which is now the championship. But in 1990 I went to my first rugby league game and there was no turning back. I was hooked. It was just a better experience. Everton turning sh1te at that time probably helped.

Up North in the M62 corridor, we play Rugby league. A truly working class sport. Rugby Union is your University sport. I did put a video on here a couple of years ago explaining the difference between the two. It was at one time just one sport. But in the late 19th century the people of the North who worked working class jobs like miners and that sort of job broke away because they wanted to get paid. Because when they got injured , then they couldn't go to work and earn money. Rugby League was the first professional code of rugby where money was earned. Rugby Union didn't become professional until 1989. Last edited by Alf; 26-09-2023 at 04:56 PM. |
