Did you know down south Rugby is very much a middle to upper middle class sport. Only the Grammar and posh schools have Rugby, or "Rugga". Football is very much the working class mans sport down here.

Different rugby.

Up North in the M62 corridor, we play Rugby league. A truly working class sport. Rugby Union is your University sport.

I did put a video on here a couple of years ago explaining the difference between the two.

It was at one time just one sport. But in the late 19th century the people of the North who worked working class jobs like miners and that sort of job broke away because they wanted to get paid. Because when they got injured , then they couldn't go to work and earn money.

Rugby League was the first professional code of rugby where money was earned. Rugby Union didn't become professional until 1989.

That's fair. I just never remember any form of Rugby being a thing down here as a kid unless you went to a decent middle class school.
