Turkeys like getting presents, dey wanna watch christmas TV,
Turkeys hav brains an turkeys feel pain
In many ways like yu an me.

I once knew a turkey called…Turkey
He said “Benji explain to me please,
Who put de turkey in christmas
An what happens to christmas trees?”,
I said “I am not too sure turkey
But itÕs nothing to do wid Christ Mass
Humans get greedy an waste more dan need be
An business men mek loadsa cash’.

Be nice to yu turkey dis christmas
Invite dem indoors fe sum greens
Let dem eat cake an let dem partake
In a plate of organic grown beans,
Be nice to yu turkey dis christmas
An spare dem de cut of de knife,
Join Turkeys United an dey’ll be delighted
An yu will mek new friends ‘FOR LIFE’.

….ahhhhh no, the poem was written by the wonderful professor of poetry, Benjamin Zephaniah who died last year in 2023…he was also an actor and played a part in Peaky Blinders but it’s not something I’ve watched so I don’t know what his character was…he was also a musician/very multi talented…it’s a great poem, I think……

That sparkle, gleam and glow
These holiday pleasures dazzle us
And yet deep down we know...

That Christmas has its special gifts
But our year round joy depends
On the cherished people in our lives
Our family and our friends...


Not going to lie its been a tough year with those I cherish...but I am looking forward to a lovely Christmas with them.
