FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr says Kimmel and Colbert are now facing the consequences of choosing to cater to a narrow, partisan audience.
“You can do that, you can start a podcast, you can go on YouTube…but if you’re going to have a license from the FCC, we expect you to broadly serve the public interest.” The era of activist late-night TV is collapsing. https://x.com/VigilantFox/status/1968487838376219030 |

…I honestly had no knowledge of Charlie Kirk at all before he was murdered…(…I did have a vague knowledge of Turning Point as an organisation…)…and there is so much that he’s quoted as saying that completely contrasts my own thoughts/beliefs …and I do believe, as you say Niamh…that ‘activism’ on both and all sides is motivated by income as well…I’ve watched some of Charlie Kirk’s debates since his death just to get an idea of who he was and why so controversial…and I’m still kind of mulling through those but one thing that does strike me as a huge positive about him…is while he was debating and talking with people of so many different views and lifestyles to his own…?…he was relating to them and with them with a level of ‘human understanding’ that maybe he was also learning to be more tolerant…? He took time to talk to people, to debate with them…to auestion them and to be questioned himself and to show a level of real human interest….
….anyways, I think in a way that he maybe showed more human interest than has been shown since his death by many on all sides and all angles because I do feel that so many agendas have come into play or out to play since his murder…it’s sad really also and distasteful because he was more than a political type identity and figure…people are so much more layered than that and people who disagreed vehemently with so much that was his mindset, still listened to him and told ‘their story’ to him so they must have attached to some positive lights in him also…I mean, positive even in their challenging eyes and challenging minds… |

SIGH
|
Seconds before he was shot he was pushing a false narrative that trans shooters were a bigger problem than they were. I don’t think he was learning at all.
He was a hateful man.

"The 31-year-old, who was speaking at a university rally in Utah, responded to a question from an audience member who asked: “Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?” Mr Kirk responded “too many”, which resulted in some cheers from the crowd. After the individual said there had been five, they then asked the conservative political activist how many mass shootings there had been in the US in the last decade."Uttering his last words, Mr Kirk asked: “Counting or not counting gang violence?” https://www.independent.co.uk/tv/new...-b2824925.html Uttering his last words, Mr Kirk asked: “Counting or not counting gang violence?” before a sniper’s bullet hit him in the neck. |

No, The whole clip and the text is about people getting fired for being gleeful about Charlie Kirk dying and saying he deserved it and then the caption is "Jimmy Kimmel just learned this the hard way!!" when he said none of that. Why would they put Jimmy Kimmel just learned this the hard way!! if they didn't mean that's what he did?

Any shooting is too many but roughly one tenth of one percent of all mass shootings were committed by a trans shooter. So in terms of context, it’s really not the problem the far right are claiming it to be when fact is, the majority of shooters are cis white men. Far right too.
Can you see the hypocrisy? Or just willing to ignore it to push your agenda?

It's weird that we know Charlie believed that some loss of life is worth it to protect the 2nd Amendment, but when it came to trans shooters there were "too many"....
Though this was a man that said trans people were an abomination, that gay people shouldn't marry or be able to adopt, insinuated homosexuality was "an error" while also likening homosexuality to addiction by comparing pride to like 'affirming a drug addict' -- so if Charlie didn't hate LGBT people, I'm not sure what I'd want to hear from him about those he does. Some statements:
[On Trans people] “These people are sick,” he said, speaking about trans folks in 2023 on The Charlie Kirk Show. “I don’t say that lightly.” He went on to say he blamed “the decline of American men” on trans people. “Someone should’ve just took care of it the way we used to take care of things in the 1950s and 60s.” “It’s a spiritual war and Christians don’t know how to respond to this. We must react politically, we must ban trans affirming care, the entire country,” “We need to have a Nuremberg-style trial for every gender-affirming clinic doctor,” Kirk said in 2024, referring to the joint tribunal that tried Nazis for atrocities committed during World War II. “We need it immediately.” “How do you love somebody?” he said in an episode of Thought Crime. “You love them so much to correct their error. Let’s just take the pride conversation out because people think it’s an identification, which it’s not. It’s just sexual behavior. If you meet an alcoholic or you meet a drug addict, do you affirm their struggle? No, you’re better than this. Let’s get you free from that activity.” Kirk regularly posted about the “LGBTQ agenda,” and regularly derided brands, such as Disney, that included LGBTQ+ people into its stories. He even advocated for the destruction of public displays of pride flags. Kirk also massively pushed for the bankruptcy of Target in the backlash to their support of Pride month.
