Caroline wasn’t aware though Nancy was pansexual, or even what pansexuality was (it had to be explained to her). Not saying it wasn’t offensive but she wasn’t intentionally being offensive.

Saying something ridiculous like ‘what you fancy pans’ is being intentionally offensive? What an utterly ridiculous thing for her to say. Why else would she she say it if she wasn’t trying to be funny and take the pee?

And you’re allowed to think that, as I’m allowed the view I already shared.

When Caroline was summoned to the diary room she actually said “ I was trying to be funny’ - it’s not in question

She did come out with a load of other silly excuses in and out of the diary room ( one involving civilisation?) but she definitely admitted she was trying to be funny !!

Yeah exactly, she could have said she didn't know what it was but she chose to mock someone's sexuality instead.

Well tbf, Comedy is meant to take the piss out of things.

Jokes should never be treated as being malicious imo.

Yes they should, jokes can be very malicious and one sided. People who I wasn't close with have jokes about my dad being dead when I was young and it still affects me. Also I heard a joke recently that wasn't even aimed at me and I was absolutely distraught, it was an insensitive joke. There is no world where ALL JOKES are okay. How well you know someone matters, the content matters and being sure it won't hurt anyone else matters.

A joke about deceased parents?

Admittedly those people sound like dicks that were trying to hide behind "joking" about your Dad's death (my condolences btw) because I don't even understand what the punchline to their "joke" would even be in the first place.

Where as Caroline's joke wasn't intended to be malicious, and I'm willing to bet that Nancy wouldn't react to that in the slightest if she weren't competing on Big Brother.

You have no idea what Caroline intended and even if it wasn't malicious, she was trying to meddle which I wouldn't say was kind hearted either.
