No, it would cost millions to the economy each week. The economy went into meltdown over the big freeze which was just about a week, so thats essentially 7 weeks of your idea.

I hated going to school 5 days a week (luckily by college it was only 4) but in the long run its benefited me a lot, and nearing the end of year 11 there wasn't enough time in school let alone if a day was lost!

1 day off school each week would mean 39 days off per year. 39 days across 13 years (years 1-11 plus nursery and reception) would mean 507 days off which is 101 weeks off. The average school year is 39 weeks long meaning if the system was the same, people wouldn't even be ready for their year 9 SATs let alone GCSEs.

Good idea in theory but it would never work.
