We will never know, LT. It was just unfortunate that the person she was interested in turned out to be a rapist and killer. It could have happened to anyone. I'm sure she was not the only girl he was trying to lure on Facebook.

Undoubtedly but it is interesting that it was her. I cant recall the last time a case of this nature did not involve an overweight girl..

Look at the perpetrators background! Its like has had about 5 cases of rape, which he eother went to jail for, or were dismissed somehow!

Its like people are telling him go ahead, do it again, you can always get way with it! Unbelievable! HOw he wasnt put away for ever, or at least mentally commited is beyond me! HE even had to give himself up and confess, in order to be taken seriously! Otherwise, he would still be out there.

I do yes!It is a possiblity!Just because your a skinny girl doesn`t mean you automatically get attention from the opposite sex,feel confident and have confidence.There will be many girls out there like Ashleigh who would have found satisfaction from the attention this sicko gave her and won`t be du to their size.

Whether it did or it didn't is irrelevant, I mean there are plenty of girls who get raped because they're very attractive, should they make themselves unattractive in case they get raped because of it?

You are missing 2 crucial distinctions.

1. the age of the victim

2. the method by which the perp gained access and trust of victim

This is not just a random attack rape, that is what you seem to be alluding to.

The lawyer made the case regarding her low-self esteem/weight for a good reason.

People can become easy targets for a number of reasons LT, because they're over weight, because they're young, because they're too trusting or naive, because they're not very good looking etc. that still does not make them to blame or at fault in any way, shape or form

But seeing as this girl obviously wasnt, I do feel that she or her family could have helped stop, put her on a diet or something.

But sometimes, if your parents are obese then there is not much you can do, people are born big and grow up obese.

Yep, and they will (mostly all) suffer low self esteem especially when they go to secondary school and most importantly college. You kind of need high self esteem in college generally, so they could suffer especially with the "slimer girls" who may take the mick out of them.
