Self respect is only applicable to music snobs, which the majority of people aren't.
Some people just can't be bothered to find new music, some people have no desire to. Its that simple. If I put the music channel on and hear something I like then theres nothing I can do about it. I don't care if its being spoon fed, its accessible without effort. I'm not big on music anyway, only listen to music channels every now and again, the radio in the car and when I'm out in clubs. I rarely put on what I want to listen to. There are loads of people like that, so whats the point in looking for more music?
