Have you any proof of that "general rule"?

Simply the statement they had more opportunity doesnt cut the mustard, surely being stuck in an office or factory limited the opportunity to cheat, whereas the housewife at home had every opportunity to perform with all manner of tradesmen, (the plumber, window cleaner, binmen etc) or meet men when she was out shopping etc.
