She doesnt have to prove anything to you. She's not in the contest.

Stars perform on the show to plug their new records thats all. What matters most is that it sounds as close to the recorded version as possible.

No it's not it's easier ,as with the moving about all the time ,sometimes with her back to people !!people will not be concentrating on her lip movements so much, they will be more than likely looking at her dancing,so imo she SHOULD be able to mime with no probs.

She even put the microphone down well away from her mouth even before she was supposed to have said the last word of the line of the song.

What a rotten song it is, its all over the place, no rhyme or reason to it. A World exclusive Dermot says, likely the only place she is assured of a free ride more like.

I dont get your point, love. How does what the audience see have anything to do with her lip synching skills?

Your point is confused I think.

There was some definite live vocals. Yes, some was mimed but meh, was a great performance!

I can see,I think where zippy is coming from, I don't agree much with him but often try to, he knows I do not like Cheryl Cole for lots of reasons.

However, I can understand artistes miming, they have done it since pop music began.I just wish they would say they do and then that's the end of it.

As Zippy says though, they are plugging their new or an existing recording on the show,
I have bought many cds which sound great, but then seeing the artiste 'live' has been a massive let down.sometimes, so I would have no problem with some act saying they mimed their new recording on shows, because it is the recording we want to hear as its the recording we will be buying.
They can perform it 'live' in concert where we can see them if we want to.

I agree artists have always mimed and with high energy performances they have to otherwise they would sound crap and out of breath through the performance. I dont have a problem with the fact that Cheryl did that last night because of the energy of the dance routine. But I think the point as always is being missed because anybody who criticises anything about Cheryl is apparently a hater. Artists like Madonna, The Osmonds (god that ages me) who have not got the best vocals in the world (like Cheryl) are professional and polished enough to be **** hot at miming its important that they are because if they don't sing brilliantly and cant mime well, they shoudn't be up there with the 'world class artists' - which is how Cheryl is sold to us. This was one song thats all and in view of her recent criticism it was important that it was flawless. If she can't even get that right how will we ever change our opinion of her.

I didn't notice if she was miming or not because I was looking at her vagina area the whole time.
So... I guess that distraction thing does indeed work.

this is kind of what i meant, people look at other things other than the lip movements,so miming should be a doddle for someone like her.

lol yep I see at least you are not hailing her vocal talents or miming skills which I totally get. What irritates me is when Cheryl's adoring fans attribute her with talents she does'nt have and attack anyone who doesn't feel the same as being jealous. I do see and acknowledge the 'visual' charms of Cheryl (even though she is a bit too 'essexed' - but thats only my personal opinion - many people like that) I also see she puts on a very energetic performance and isn't the only artist who hasn't got an amazing voice but who still has a successful career because she is good at what she does. But when she fluffs her miming on a track that lasted what 3 minutes or so you have to question what does she do well other than successfully court the media in getting the right attention at the right time in her career

Personally i dont like the woman for many reasons but i do not let that cloud my judgement however to mime on a show where you are critical of other people's live singing i think is bang out of order

Unfortunately I dont think she has talent in the singing department however she does put on a show (like Madonna etc mentioned above who are not great vocalists either) but on a show like this where you have 4 girls looking up to you and taking your advice and then other acts who you have the option to be critical of then I think she should have sung live as they have to each week

If you need to mask your lack of vocal talent on a primarily vocal talent show by clouding it with dancers and lightening sets then this should not be showcased on a show like this - it certainly leaves you open to abuse (as i see in the papers today) and i would have thought that after last year's miming debate she would have thought better of doing it again - then again, owt for publicity eh Chezza?

Bubble did not mime ffs

Cole did as she has malaria and had to do an energetic dance routine that negates singing.

There is no way she could sing that studio tune and dance at the same time lol

I didn't think she was that noticeable - and it was a good performance dance/stage-wise...

and I'm one of her harshest critics I just really don't like the song.

I agree with you, I don't have a problem with her miming as other artists do but imo she should seperate her role as an Xfactor judge with promoting her own solo career and just not perform on the XFactor. It does her no favours as it leaves her performance open to critisism and alienates part of the public that switch on for the XFactor contestants not to pay homage to Cheryl Cole

A free ride to number one no doubt. I remember Britney being slaughtered (rightly) for walking round the stage and miming. Cole did dance (sort of), but she said it was all gonna be live. It so wasn't.

He didn't

Dannii isn't the best live singer in the world either and is crap at miming (see below) whilst by your logic Simon & Louis shouldn't be there either

simon and louis have experience in the music world in a different way,and dannii is not self promoting herself on her own show and being treated like a world class singer.

well it clearly does do her favours as her first week sales proved after her last performance.

She is an artist in an extremely competitive market(especially for female singers at the mo). Of course she's going to take the opportunity to perform if offered. Any artist would. Its not like there are lots of big shows for artists to perform on these days either.

She put on a great show. Some were just staring at her mouth desperate to see her be out of sync at some point.

Cheryl came to prominence on a similar talent show where she sung live week in week out. She was a winner on that show. Her days of having to prove her vocals on shows like this are over. Been there done that.

The amount of successful acts Simon and Louis have found between them without X Factor could be counted on one hand, maybe 2 if you're feeling generous but hardly anything to be proud of

Most of Simons money comes from being a TV personality

Kind of weakens her comments though, when she told TreyC that she missed some of the high notes. Then she comes on herself and mimes. Cheryl is a very pretty girl, but she's relying on that lately.

And I think Michael Buble did sing live. Because he can.

For the longest time all Louis had was Boydrone and Pondlife. Two dull boybands with no musical ambition or creativity whatsoever who relied heavily on cover versions to sustain their careers.

Thats all he had paying his bills. He had many many other acts who failed. But now he can feed off the XFactor. JLS were a ready made success for him and they already had a fanbase. Just like Girls aloud were. They later ditched him and became bigger than ever.

Simon and Louis are two middle aged men with the musical taste of two middle aged women. MOR is all they're interested in.

Judges are there to judge though: you don't need to be able to do it yourself to be able to see an obvious flaw in something!
