Oh I loved that book - cried my eyes out when Beth died! Loved the sequels as well, Good Wives and Jo's Boys.

Other faves were The Hobbit which I read when I was about 10, all the Just William books by Richmal Crompton, all the Billy Bunter books by Frank Richard, and all the Malory Towers books by Enid Blyton. Also loved The Chronicles of Narnia and later on Lord of the Rings. I spent a lot of time at the library, mostly to escape by three younger brothers. We weren't very well off, so we didn't have a tv, therefore books were very important to me.

A Stranger Came Ashore, this one first book read at school.

This first book i ever read of my own accord was Flowers In The Attic, Virgina Andrews, it was brilliant, i've been actually thinking of buying it again to see if i still like it has much as i did nearly 20 years on.

I never got into them, but I do remember reading something like them when I got too old for Enid Blyton.. can't remember what though.

I think I started reading grown up books quite young actually.. I read every single one of Virginia Andrews books and the whole "Rhanna" series by Christine Marion Fraser (which, if you want a good read that'll make you laugh and cry all at the same time, you should try)

And I've just found out there's 8 books in the series!! and I don't think I've read them all! Yay

I think I'll maybe give them all a read again actually.. Honestly Niamh, go and read some of the reviews online.. they really are brilliant (as is her other series "Kings Croft" or summat)
