Because there's so much utter shi te churned out these days by people who can barely sing let alone create music themselves. I'm not saying everybody should automatically like Coldplay; everybody has different tastes, but I personally have more respect for anybody who can actually make music/write lyrics/whatever over some manufactured pop band.
