Next year the local council is going to 3-weekly collections because of budget cuts. Sigh.

The thing is, even if we do condense our waste / create less in the first place... what the hell is going to happen in the warmer months when it's been 20 days since the last bin collection? They'll be absolutely crawling with maggots

Yeah, there's a blue bin and green bin collected on alternating weeks. Both are always full.

Yep, I've been there and done that too. We missed a collection... the next two bags we filled, I jumped on them to get them in. But more just kept on coming! So I started putting full bags in the shed. Three of them. And then I forgot about them for 4 months...

How do you go through that much rubbish? I find that we have more recyclable stuff per week than actual rubbish. We bring them to recycling bins ourselves though
