Don't think its an issue of inequality or misogyny really, it's not very logical but then there are numerous examples of inconsistency in the VAT system. For the record soap and toothpaste are subject to the full 20% VAT as well compared to the 5% that's on tampons

Canada removed the tax on sanitary supplies this year... Just saying, get with the times UK
