I love it when, on the strength of one story, the all the details of which none of us on here know, everyone seems to agree that a justice system that served us well for a long time now, is ridiculous, that it's a miscarriage of justice, that the legal system is unfair...

I think I'll leave it till I have all the details before I dismiss our legal system as being "shot".

I don't think the justice system has served women well, historical, on the issue of rape. And if this were the only story I had heard on how hard it is for a woman to prove that a man found trying to insert himself into her while she slept is an act of rape, maybe his innocence would be easier to believe... But I doubt it.

Rape is naturally a difficult thing to prove, it's nothing to do with the Justice system not serving them well. How are we supposed to know what happened if there's no evidence?

I would agree that historically women have been treated badly by the justice system, but things are improving albeit quite slowly. While I do agree with what you say on the whole, this is one report in a newspaper with only one side of the story. Not enough for me to condemn the whole justice system, I'm afraid.

Not like me to wander into these parts... but with kirk away I though there might be room for one more.

What really bugs me about this report is he hasn't denied that he was found on top of a young girl with his penis out and actually trying to insert into her... But that some how there is a way in our world to logic away such a scenario. I don't care if you are drunk or sleep walking or have 1000 degree temperature... there has to be some kind of justice for the young girl who woke up with a man on top of her, with his penis on the way in. The kind of emotions and fear that invokes on a women shouldn't be dismissed
