Black people are depicted in media as trashy and when a black person does something positive or elegant the fact the person is black is swept under carpet. Person commits as crime...they are black. Black Person saves someone's life...they are a person.
Black people are only depicted in Hollywood as slaves, civil rights causes, racial victims, sports people, rap musicians. Reinforcing a ghetto stereotype which is why people are shocked when Harry Potter's Hermione as an adult casts a black actress as some white people can't envisage a black person being like a white person.

All good points but the Black people themselves in the media and public eye have a responsibility as well, many of the largest black stars on the planet revel in the persona of being 'ghetto' and 'gangsta' so its no surprise ill educated white people find that an easy stereotype to throw around.
Doesn't make it right for sure, but I've never been a fan of the whole romanticizing the ghetto gangsta lifestyle that was so prevalent in the 90s and early 00s largely pedaled by black stars of both genders.
