You shouldn't have to
prove anything. A lot of people believe that's exactly what marriage is, that it's all about making it "official" and having it written down, as if the concept of getting married will change your emotions within the relationship.
I've always said that you can't relight a candle if there's no more wax. Marriage may feel brilliant at the time but it's not going to fix anything permanently and shouldn't be used in that way.
