Germany as part of the EU had no right to issue an open borders policy when it affected all the countries around them without making provision for refugees to access Germany without having to trudge through other countries whose borders were closed.

To blame the refugees thing all on Germany is incredibly unfair, and making a Boogeyman out of them when really they're just one country that helped cause that issue, if you even see it as an issue that is anyway.
