It's not uniquely English, but it's certainly not true that it plagues "every team's support" to the same extent. England has a significant problem with both football hooliganism AND many "normal" non-violent fans nonetheless being disrespectful of host countries / cities, and anyhone who denies that is firmly burying their head in the sand .

What is true, though, and very sad, is that there do seem to be a lot of people who have done nothing wrong at all caught in the crossfire of these violent alteractions - and those people are the most likely to end up getting hurt.
