I think it'd more of a 'sad realization' if people thought that everybody should have the same opinions as themselves because that'd be boring as ****. Debating is cool, I don't see the issue.

I think
everybody at some point, is guilty of this. Everyone is also biased towards their favourites to an extent and probably excuse some of their behaviour and continue to support them (I know I do for sure). Same goes for vice versa, when someone they don't like does something terrible, they ensure to capitalize on it and post about it at every given opportunity to make them look as bad as possible.
