I do personally think it's a red herring, in many ways. A very tiny proportion of people actually have the sort of privilege that is being talked about... most of those people do happen to be white (and also, male) for various historical reasons. However, the VAST majority of white people, and the vast majority of men, are just as oppressed as everyone else. It benefits the privileged to have everyone at each others throats on gender and ethnic battlegrounds because it stops us from turning our gaze where it belongs. Upwards. At the true wealth. The true power.

Within the last decade, we were so close to "getting the point". After the recession... pointing the finger at the banks, the finance markets, the 1%, things like Occupy. Something was really taking off. But these people are clever and have been doing this since the dawn of civilization; they successfully distracted us, once again, and we're all squabbling about Feminism and Terrorism and "PC culture" and whatever other bull**** they've decided to throw to turn our heads.
