Yes they can. Do you think Amanda is homophobic? or Wayne? Or is it more likely that they just could not be arsed with Shanes soapboxing and take people as they find them rather than judging them for stuff they have not actually seen?

Newer labels haha, it was created in 1948! There is still only one label for all of those middle numbers.. I guess he just thought a 7-point scale was more useful than a 3-point scale when he designed the study (and it is, the middle numbers all get used)

I don't think they are homophobic but they are ignorant. Especially considering if Ann had her way, Amanda wouldn't even be able to enter a civil partnership (since Ann voted against that too).

'Identifying as' to me means you are saying you are something you are not. Like..I don't identify as human, I am human. I could identify as a cat, as I am not a cat. If that makes sense.

You're kind of along the right lines. I don't like labels, I'd prefer not to label my sexuality, I don't really think it can be labelled and I find the categorising of sexual preferences a bit of a flawed and restrictive box-ticking exercise from the outset anyway. But rather than get into a debate about that with someone, be That Guy who's like ~I don't like labels~ or try and explain the complexities of my own sexual orientation (for want of a better phrase) which no one else other than me cares about, I would tend to opt for 'I identity as bi(curious)'. It's the easiest way of narrowing it down in layman's terms.

I am not friends with anybody that thinks I shouldn't have the right to marry my partner, so no. Thinking a certain group of people should not have equal rights is not the same as a differing opinion.

It can be.

I have quite close friends who (for example) agree with the horrendous ATOS medicals and regularly go on about how many people claiming disability benefits are fakers and such. They moan on about working disabled people being able to claim PIP. Many many awful opinions on the topic. I am disabled and rely on those payments, both when I was able to work and now, when I am not. Occasionally it causes a bit of an argument, if they bring up that **** in my presence. But I still do get on with them, those opinions aside.

My cousin is gay and he is friends with a fair few people who disagree with same sex marriage, and same sex adoption also. Again, this causes arguments at times but he does not stop speaking with them over it.

I guess it just comes down to what kind of person you are and if you can overlook unsavoury views tbh. I wouldn't say my cousin was ignorant. You clearly would. I would say he is just..able to see past peoples views and still get on with them
