I can't see Vicky or Niamh passing on info. They are not like that.

When you register on a site, you expect some kind of privacy for your details.
Okay, I see your point now. But if they had bad intentions, such as being a paedophile, maybe, as I have suggested before but don't really stand by anymore. Then I feel it would be necessary to have them reported and also named and shamed.

But in some [or most] cases it's rather obvious, and well in this case if they've managed to prove it then they have been proven guilty, no?

Even if they have been proven guilty... they would be guilty of faking their identity. It's not against site rules, so technically, it's no business of the admin/mods.

Again, there's a way to deal with it properly, rather than to indulge in hear'say, you know? It's never completely obvious and should be treated with a certain element of decorum and discretion. That's what I think anyway.

I think that if they pose a risk to other users on the site, they should be banned.

Other than that, there's really no need for mods/admin to be involved at all.

However, if they want to use the information they are privvy to, that's all fine and well, but they ought not to share it with others.

It might not be against site rules but I certainly think members have a right to know, really.

People can end up becoming really close to people via forums, would save a lot of possible trouble if they were told...

Why not? Niamh is in the most obvious clique on tibb, makes perfect sense she'd leak gossip to them.

I disagree.

I think it's down to individuals to use their common sense when dealing with people online, and to protect their own identity.

When you become 'close to someone online', you should always bear in mind that the person might not be who he/she says they are.

Unless you have some human contact with people, you need to keep your own safety in mind and remember that they could be anyone.

It's not up to the mods/admin of a BB site to protect us from people who lie online. 99% of internet users lie. It's up to us to have the sense to accept that.

Anyway, this isn't really about whether or not MM&I should be outed for lying... it's about mods abusing their powers to get information about users then passing it along to others.

I suspect this has happened, and I doubt I'm alone in that.

Well if the 'rumour' that his/her real Facebook profile was found, then that's pretty much conclusive proof, really.

All I'm saying is I'd like to know a little bit more about this Facebook thing...so we can get to the bottom of it.

But that is like saying Greg leaked info to you and your friends.

I know Niamh well enough to know that she is professional, and yes she has friends on tibb, but it's hardly a clique. And lastly she would never give out info about anyone, if you knew her better you'd be sure of that fact too.

I'm sure of one fact. This info was leaked.

By whom? I do not know.

But, I think it's worrying that our info is not safe.

Yes, but that can be done behind closed doors rather than mentioned and discussed on an open forum, don't you think? It's not healthy for Tibb to be indulging in that kinda speculation on an open board.

Ok, i admit it, it was me, i put the screw in the tuna.

LOL really though, everytime i come on this site i always see some kinda drama and i never know what its all about, but it seems that the internet is serious business.

But yeah after browsin this thread, i dont have a clue whats goin on, but mods shouldnt be gettin peoples personal details for any reason other then something important about the site.

Difference is, the person who was told all this just so happened to be in Niamh's posse, not in Greg and mine's group. So I don't see how that's relevant.

Whilst this is all true there's some very innocent, vulnerable and let's be honest, quite ignorant people using not only this forum, but the internet on the whole. Mostly young but then even some are pushing into their teens...

Sadly not everyone is clued up about the internet as others, and those are the ones that should be protected from where the problem would start - here.

Whilst I could smell a paedophile a mile away, I could name a few on this forum that probably couldn't.

That's all I'm worried about really.

Jack, there are a lot of vulnerable internet users. I agree.

However, it's the responsibility of their parents to keep them safe online... not the moderators of a Big Brother forum, so my point still stands.

Niamh doesn't have a posse or a clique. And I think it is unfair to blame her, she is not even her to defend herself.

Of course, but even then there's some useless parents. Wouldn't it be better for them to get extra protection rather than run the risk?

I understand it's not at all the mods responsibility, more of an act of human decency or looking out for vulnerable people, I guess.

Thanks Claudia, I would expect nothing less than for Gary to blame anyway!

No, I honestly don't think mods/admin have a duty to protect the users. Who's to say some of the mods/admin aren't predators either? (hypothetically speaking) ... They don't exactly have to be police-checked to moderate a BB forum.

Oh come on. Everyone knows it - Niamh, InOne, Ninastar, Kitty, Smithy, bettiepaige, they're all one clique. There's nothing wrong with it, half of them have the sense to admit it themselves but lets not delude ourselves here.

And thats the bottom line because stone cold said so.

LOL how anyone can disagree with you is past me, its all in the data protection act, so how can you disagree with a law LOL.

And its the users/there gardians responsibility to be safe online, and if a mod or what ever thinks a user is a peedo or is out to harm someone, then the correct process is informing the feds, not talkin to other members.
