i thought he was doing it as a wind up hoping the lady would lose her cool. He obviously knew what he was saying because he repeated it about 4 times

The voice of reason

One of the top comments from the DT article:
More 'woke' drivel. It's a 'man's game' is obviously being used idiomatically, in this context, to describe men's football and specifically contrasting the mandate this season for the refs to allow more physical contact, as opposed to recent seasons. A rather more pertinent question might be why is Karen Carney being employed as a pundit for men's football, when she has no experience of it? |

11 HRS AGO I was more offended by Sky having Karen Carney as a pundit. Pundits should ideally have played in the fixture on which they're commenting. At the very least they should have played at the same level. Karen Carney ticks neither of these boxes and has been chosen solely because she's a woman. The very definition of sexism. |

Apparently someone else saying the same stupid thing was supposed to change your mind
![]() Interesting how the defence has gone from "that isn't what he meant" to still attacking women anyway.

Well the main male pundit I saw in the Women’s Euros was the manager of a women’s football team ( Chelsea or Arsenal ?).. I’m really not sure why Ian Wright was on there tbh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Last edited by Zizu; 15-08-2022 at 12:18 PM. |

How can he be properly clued up on the women players or the women’s game though ? I see him as a token male pundit , a high profile player who’s willing to take the money . I wonder what all the female ex England player/pundits think about him taking work from them ?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Last edited by Zizu; 15-08-2022 at 01:44 PM. |

I do miss the more familiar faces discussing things during and after games simply because I know how good they were as players and what they achieved . I wouldn’t have that interest in some guy off the street or an invited football fan . The blokes do get more involved and disagree with each other .. you don’t get that nowadays as the guys are all on their best behaviour. It really does look as though they are scared of disagreeing with anything the female pundits say . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

exatctly what i said
he never referred to the mens game he said its a mans game again referring to the game he just watched and the fact that this season (by directive) the refs are allowing the game to flow and not blow for every little tackle Hopefully the women who tweeted will see this thread and send GS an apology |

male or female, the pundits usually talk complete bollocks, so it really doesn't make any difference

I think the context is quite important here. I honestly don't think he meant to offend. But my judgement was cloudy at the time, one, i'd had a few beers, two, i was salty about Chelsea conceding in the 95th min, especially against Spurs

He could of meant it in the way the players, especially the men, are mollycoddled and pampered too in this day and age. A slight touch and they're down. It's embarrassing.
And i say context is important because we'd just seen probably one of the feistiest, hard hitting matches in quite a long time. It was a dig at the men's game and how they act for the most part imo.
