Oh I love flying.. if you get peace to have a few drinks, get a blanket and get stuck into a good book. This sort of thing just doesn't happen though when you have a 6 and a 4 year old in tow!

Try 14 hours in an Air France 747 where the movie is in French and about 7 miles away at the front of the cabin. Then they're gonna land you at Charles De Gaulle @ 4am where it's -6C and all your warm clothes are in the suitcase for onwards flight.

Americans are such wimps!

LOL mate - we do this quite often in each other's countrys in Europe

In Edinburgh it is illegal to drink alcohol in public - so when my German pals were drinking alcohol it the public park I just told them to remember they couldn't speak english when the police arrived and I'd do the pretend interpret (I can't really speak Deutsch!)

Almost Lee - it was bluddy roasting in Mauritius when I left so you tend to forget that Paris is gonna be freezing and have to sit there for 4 hours with 0 to do except shiver! I called ahead to get my dad to come to EDI with a cosy jacket!

Who cares about ranking? All developed countries have obesity epidemics. For any european opr North American countries to trade insults about fattness, is dumb. We're all fat. SO what.

I'm not fat, but i don't have a problem with fat people. I know lots of awesome fat people.

Being anti-fat people is no different than racism or homophobia. Just live yur life, and be kind to people. WHo cares if they are fat??

My brother is a little bit fat, and he's the most awesome person in the world.

When does anyone "bitch" about our "attempts at world conquest" being "thwarted"?

And no, the Empire was not just an excuse for genocide and slavery.

I'm Irish. Given my ancestors were victim to the British empire I doubt I'm the right person you should be directing this to.

But who cares how many people the British killed. Nobody cares about statistics, right?

It was German scientists who put you guys on the moon, by the way.

Why do you keep bringing up slavery? Seems like a thorn in your side, or a real chip on your shoulder.

Anyways just to show you what a stupid and ignorant argument that one is, just like all your arguments really, what do you make of this:

1502 First African slaves taken to the Americas.

1776 Declaration of Independence made by Continental Congress

1781 Effective end of the land war between US and UK

1783 Cessation of Hostilities between US and UK

1787 Constitution of the US adopted by the Continental Convention.

1790 William Wilberforce presents the first abolition bill to the House of Commons, but it does not pass

1791 US adopted Bill of Rights.

1807 The Transatlantic Slave Trade is abolished by the British Parliament. US also bans the slave trade, to take effect the following year.

1833 Abolition of Slavery Act – Britain abolishes slavery and provides for the emancipation of enslaved people in the British West Indies, to take effect in August 1834.

1861 US Civil War starts (one of the reasons being slavery)

1865 The Thirteenth Amendment marks the abolition of slavery in the USA at the end of the American Civil War.

Seems like you Yanks were a lot fonder of slavery than us.

Why has this been directed in the angle of slavery again?

You know, this is going to be a VERY controversial view, but I really dont get people who get so upset by things that happened absolutely ages ago. like, if it came out that for example, the polish had enslaved britain 2000 years ago, I wouldnt get pissed about it now and bring it up at every oppertunity just(seemingly) to score points :S

Yep, we always seem to have to apologize for slavery, when in some cases their own people sold them off

Its not even this that annoys me though.

Its just a case of why should we apologise for things that wasnt even us. I know its a bit more complicated than that, but it doesnt need to be.

Basically, its just a big ass grudge...

Its like...I all germans for killing my great great great grandad or anything. Thats just stupid. And I certainly wouldnt hold it against them. It was nothing to do with them :/

Well and truley rattled. You put up a lovely pedantic front demanding names you didn't think I could give you about information you didn't think I knew of, then the best you can do - the man who complains about others lack of rebuttals - is sidestep it and bring ze Russians into it?

I couldn't care less who would have gotten to the moon first. The Russians put a man in space first before the Germans put an American on the moon. If it were the other way around I doubt I would have felt any differently. It's a pointless comparison.
