Actually I do not mind this heat in here.

Summer in Japan is so humid and very uncomfortable. When you go outside, you must carry handkerchief, wear hats or carry parasol if they are female. Children will definitely wear hats.

The other day I had en electrician in my house. He was Australian. He said he had been to Japan in summer and talking about weather, this weather in here is nothing, compare with so uncomfortable humid hot one over there.

..yeah, it's the humidity that exhausts you Sooty, you have to constantly drinks to keep hydrated..I've only really been to the USA and Caribbean and both of those are quite humid, although it's much better if you're on the coast...you are lucky to have been born in such a beautiful country though and so much variety of things to see..there are lovely places here but the UK is quite small as well..do you go back to Japan very often..?...I bet your family are always thrilled to see you....

Ammi, you should see average people's size of houses/flats. Western people would call them, rabbit house and I have to agree, almost. When you go there, you will have a culture shock for many things.

About 73 percent of Japan is forested, mountainous, and unsuitable for agricultural (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agriculture,_forestry,_and_fishing_in_Japan), industrial (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manufacturing_in_Japan), or residential (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Housing_in_Japan) use. As a result, the habitable zones, mainly located in coastal areas, have extremely high population densities. Japan is one of the most densely populated countries (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_population_density) in the world. -Wikipedia

It is too expensive to go back there too often. As my parents were long gone, I only visit there, may be once in five years if I am lucky. Lat time I went was around six years ago.

I would love to go to America one day. I wish to go up the Expire State Building. - Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr, "An affair to remember" :amazed:

You, yourself, travelled a lots, Ammi.

..yeah, we had quite a few big family holidays when my dad was here Sooty, he was always the one to plan it all and always made everything special...An Affair to Remember is one of my favourite movies, it's so sad but beautiful and the end scene is one of the most lovely scenes in movie history for me..do you have tears in your eyes..?..have you watched the movie Sleepless in Seattle..?..it's not exactly a remake of it but there are lots of references to the Cary Grant/Deborah Kerr movie and it's also a lovely story, I think you'd like it...in fact, if I cane prise your address out of you I'm going to send it to you and insist that you watch it...aww, I do feel that you will get to New York one day, I know the reasons why you want to go and I somehow feel that you will one day, but for this year it's still an amazing trip to go and see your family as you haven't seen them for so long...they must be so looking forward to it too..and you have your beautiful home exactly how you want it too...New York will wait just a little longer but it will happen.....

I also have seen the Meg Ryan's film Sleepless in Seattle on tv. I must visit the Empire State Building.

Ammi, what did your father say about holiday was like.... I forgot the exact words. Because my pm was full (I have to delete the pm the first time in four years!) and have deleted your message, including particular words your father said about holiday.

I went to a café today, waiting for my friend. There were no customers but an old lady café owner only. (she said she was, as we chatted.)

Then a customer came in, so I started to read my paper. When I read a joke column, I laughed. Then the owner asked me what was funny, so I said....
Then she asked me to read it. (the café was more like transport café and very relaxed atmosphere).
So I read it loud;

"I was talking to my best mate about our families, when he suddenly remarked, - My mother-in-law is an angel. -
I replied; - You are lucky, mine is still alive."

Unexpectedly she asked me to read it again. I am sure my Japanese accent was not that bad as other customer laughed. Anyway I read it again but the joke was not funny if I had to repeat it.:(

(I hoped she was just heard of hearing.:D)

Yes it's a Sci Fi show, and don't worry I find it difficult to keep up with this show and I like arc based shows, all they seem to do is kill every character off that they can find for no reason whatsoever.

It really grinds my gears.

How are you doing btw Sooty?

Hi Mock!

Oh, the show sounds scary! I prefer romantic comedy or light(?) thriller like Colombo, or Murder she wrote type.

Now I am retired, I go out for dancing (social dance) a lot, all people are my age or over.
They are so energetic. When jive music is on, every body jive (of course), it's amazing scene. I think when they were young (just after the war) they must have danced jive/rock-en roll.

I went on Monday(Wembley), then I am going tomorrow(Wembley) and Thursday(Oakwood) and Friday(Camden)!

I am really enjoying dancing.

"Oh anywhere nice?"
"We (husband) are going to a welcome home party."
"Oh from where is the person coming back?"

Yes, Ammi. it's almost finished refurbishing.

To chose fireplace and dining set, to have carpet cleaned then finish!

Garden will take years to put it the one I like.
At the moment it is plane lawn. As It is very tiny, I am thinking making it like patio garden.

But I go out dancing almost everyday, (this week, today is the only one I did not go out for dancing. I am visiting my old neighbour as she is making lunch for me.)

Ha ha Ammi, dance I do is like if you can walk, you can dance type, no effort at all. The place I go, the average age is definitely over eighties and I rather look young among them.

I dance ballroom (socially) but recently I started learning "Sequence Dancing". When I was young, I thought this was for old people, now I am the one and am enjoying learning.:p

I posted similar video on the Picture Thread last night but I will post one more similar one.

You can see in the second video, there are not many gentlemen where I go, so I am learning male steps and dance with ladies. I like dancing so I do not mind the person I am dancing is lady or gentleman as long as I can dance.

Oh Ammi, I did barn dance today. It was part of afternoon tea dance today in Battersea. Barn dance is always a good fun.

I do try line dance (watch and follow other people) if DJ play one as part of tea dance. I am totally a beginner.
One thing I make sure when I dance line dance, never stand in the bottom (end) line.
The first time I tried, I stood in the end so that I could copy dancer in front of me. Then unexpectedly they started keep changing direction and suddenly I was in the front. I was panicked as nobody in front of me. I did not know what to do.

wow well done sooty for taking up dancing. I myself i've been wanting for ages to do dancing classes, mostly latin, but I never make time for it. Soon.

Ceecee, Latin, specially rumba music (and movement) is so romantic.
You would love it. And cha cha and jive are fun to dance.

Oh yeah. I can't wait to make time to get into it. Hope the instructor will be a hot latin.

Sooty, don't tell me you've never heard of eminem?

Of course I know his name, Ceecee, but I could not remember (or would not know) what he sang.
I opened one of his videos, singing (rapping) but it was too fast and I did not fully understand what was he rapping.:p

I have never seen his films but he is a good actor?

..yeah, I prefer being at work as well, Sooty..although I do love weekends with my family as well but no one gets so much holiday time as I do, which can seem very long and I much prefer the routine of when I'm working...I'm also very lucky with where I work as well/I love it....

One day my dearest friend, former neighbour, said to me how I was lucky to be able to go out to work (now I am retired) as she was a full time carer (twenty seven) for her husband. (I was a carer for my husband in evenings and weekends only).

I knew exactly what she meant. :(

..yeah, I know Sooty...what a self giving person she is though...it's always such a sad situation because with the person who needs the care and the one caring for them, there are two 'prisoners'...and to be able to have a job/social life/friends etc is so important for a carer...

..your husband was so extremely lucky to have you but I'm sure he knew that.....

Yes, Ammi. He kept saying thank you, thank you, these words were really a great comfort to me..

..yeah, sometimes it's easy to think that 'words' aren't important/it's 'actions' that are the main thing...but sometimes words really are important, aren't they and especially when that person is unable to give actions and words are all they have ..and we do things because we want to/we choose to but that doesn't mean to say, it doesn't have a huge effect on our lives and can 'wear it down' so a few words can give us so much more energy that we might need at that time....

One day I shopped at Morrisons and ended up with lots of bags. Problem was the car park was all the way across the shopping centre then you had to go out and walk down the road a bit more to reach the car park. I just could not be arsed that day so like a crazed woman I walked out morrisons with my full trolley, cross the shopping mall, at this point people were looking at me crazy, down the road, then finally reached the car park after thousands "is that woman not well" looks. yuuuur if you see a crazy trolley lady in crimewatch it was me!!!:elephant:

But comeon, sense is to make the car park accessible next to supermarkets. :bawling: don't even remember which area I was that day :conf:

I have a guest, very clean consicous firend, staying with me right now.

When I was making a cup of tea, I decided to replace an old water cartridge filter.
To my horror, after I threw it in a bin, I realised there was no spare one left. I quickly picked, washed and used it again.

I felt so guilty she said it was a very nice cup of tea.:(
