Ah what the hell, might as well give this a go. There seems to be a few of us on TiBB who are American Football fans so thought I'd try set up a thread to discuss the NFL throughout the season on the first sunday of the season

Not a great start for my team, the Denver Broncos. I've learnt not to be optimistic this year after the last two seasons where I thought we'd be certs for the playoffs (6-0 to 8-8 wtf), but I was still hoping we could achieve a win over the Jags. There were some positives, Orton had a pretty good game, Moreno looked better, defence was ok I suppose although theres room for improvement, namely with our pass rush. Glad to see the Raiders lose tonight though!

Good to see Channel 4 are showing Sunday Night Football again by the way, and ESPN are now showing Monday Night Football I believe

Hopefully it might get a bit busier this season.

He definitely isnt worth that kind of money, but the NFL salaries are so ridiculous now, he might as well get paid, and more power to him imo!

If Vick can stay healthy, he can potentially be the the most dangerous QB in the league. It's nice to see that the Eagles are basically saying that they're full on behind Vick, something that wasn't true this time last year.

The thing is, he is not gonna be as good this year. Their Offensive line especially the tackles are as good, he is gonna struggle a bit. Dont get me wrong, I think MIchael Vick is great, and everything, but to think he is worth $100 million, is crazy! These NFL owners have lost their minds off late I think, with the ridiculous extensions theve been given. You just need to play great for a season, and you are set for life. As a result, not only is it unlikely for lightning to strike twice, but once youve got a long contract extension, with guaranteed money, the motivation isnt even there anymore. PLayers should be getting 2, 3 years extensions. BUt I guess with the collective bargaining agreements, the players union have done a great job. I wonder how some of the retired greats feel now watching this I remember Deion Sanders getting about $5 million a year, and that was huge! :)

Dawg pound and dirty bids! Whatever guys! :bored: .... Well, I did like the dirty bird when they had Jamaal anderson! :)

Anyways my cowboys are gonna be interesting this season, in a car crash kinda way! They pretty much cut 3 on the Offensive linemen (2 of them pro bowlers) , an replaced them with rookies. . Granted we drafted a tack with the 9th pick, he will be solid, but the others are just projects. I really dont get it, especially since Romo got knocked out of the season last year, the last thing he needs is an inexperienced O line. BUt oh, well, well just have to wait and see. I alays hav high hopes no matter what, before the season starts! :)

I think Vick will be just as good, if not better this year than last. Of course, I have him in my fantasy team, so that might just be wishful thinking on my part. It is a big contract, but contracts like these will become typical will the new rules. This is just the first of many like this.

Anyway, I'm tentatively excited for this season and my Detroit Lions. I want to hope that they'll finally make the playoffs, but I hope that every year, and they never do. :(

Yeah, I saw that. Sucks.

Lions, for the first time in what seems like forever, won their first game. It's an amazing actually having a winning record.

Though, we didn't play the best game today. The Bucs were just really terrible. Still when you're a Lions fan, you take what you can get.

Brady and Patriots are in the playoffs as expected. But the defense has been playing like pure ****e when it's comes to pass plays. Brady is pissed that he has to carry the whole team at points.

Oh Colts had the worst record in the leauge because Manning was out the whole year with a neck injury from LAST season. Had to get multiple surgeries on his neck.

Packers almost went undefeated lost to chiefs week 13. 3. Games. Away. (Packers fan that wanted them to go undefeated)

Technically, both games yesterday were really good games but it sucks that the teams that didn't win lost because they handed it over to the other team. The Ravens shoulda coulda won. The 49ers shoulda coulda won. But the kicker and Kyle Williams blew it. Kyle Williams gives Leon Lett a run for his money for the boneheaded mistakes he made today.

I don't care to watch a rematch between the Giants and Patriots. Couldn't care less. I probably am hoping that the team that wins only wins because of some really controversial call or penalty so that everyone is pissed off.:joker:

It's a complicated story but the short version is My Mum was a waitress a long time ago and where i live has a Division I college city right near by. Micheal was assigned this game in the city by me and The Night Before the game all the restaurants were super busy. So he and the TV crew for that game came over to grab something to eat and it was one of my mum's table. She was so nervous that she made the other waitresses do the rest of her tables.
