Nah, not at all, just no need to over praise them tonight. You always looked like you'd concede if Lyon decided to take you on and to give away a goal so late on is very poor.

Kreonke may wait 6 months to buy Arsenal shares.

If he buys more now he would have to buy them at 10,500 as they are the highest he bought some of his for but in 6 months (the last 12 months) he would have only bought them for 8,500 and if he was to buy the club would save himself 88million.

He is also set to sell St louis rams for over 350million to fund his Arsenal bid.

Stan Kroenke has increased his stake in Arsenal to 29.9%, it has been confirmed in a statement to the Stock Exchange.

This moves Kroenke close to the threshold whereby he would have to make an offer for all the shares in the football club.

The Denver-based business has purchased a further 200 shares in the club's parent holding company. When he reaches 29.99% he will be able to launch a full takeover.

Kroenke purchased 100 of those shares from Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood.

Chelsea's transfer ban has been temporarily suspended by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) pending a final decision on the matter.

Fifa had ruled the club could not sign players until 2011 after inducing Gael Kakuta to break his Lens contract.

But Chelsea appealed to Cas, which said on Friday: "Such sanctions are now stayed until the Cas renders its final decision in this matter."

The decision means Chelsea could be able to sign players in January.

No date has been given for a final decision from Cas.

Fifa had banned the Premier League leaders in September from any activity during the next two transfer windows after they were found guilty of inducing Kakuta, now aged 18, to breach his contract with French club Lens in 2007.

Under the terms of the original Fifa punishment, French teenager Kakuta was ordered to pay compensation of 780,000 euros (£710,000), for which Chelsea were "jointly and severally liable".

Chelsea were also told to pay Lens "training compensation" of 130,000 euros (£118,000).

English clubs will discuss Rangers and Celtic EPL move next week

Despite Richard Scudamore, the chief executive of the Premier League, voicing his doubts about the admittance of Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers to the English Premier League, the matter is on the agenda for the clubs' meeting next week.

'The proposal by Bolton Wanderers' chairman, Phil Gartside, for an expanded two-division Premier League which would include Celtic and Rangers has been revived and is on the agenda for next Thursday's Premier League clubs' meeting,' reports The Guardian.

The desire of both clubs to quit Scottish soccer was only enhanced this summer, when the collapse of Irish broadcaster Setanta saw the league's television revenues cut dramatically. The renogotiation of the SPL's rights, in a deal with Sky Sports and ESPN, halved the league's broadcast income. The champions of the SPL now receive less television money than the club that finishes bottom of the English Premier League.

'Both Celtic and Rangers, who have long looked to escape from the Scottish Premier League in which they are by far the biggest clubs, would welcome an invitation from the elite English league,' adds The Guardian. 'However, any Premier League rule change requires 14 clubs to vote in favour. Gartside has a great deal of lobbying to do before his plan has any chance of succeeding.'

End of the Spl dominance for these 2 clubs?

For me i say why should they go straight to premiership, watching them play its quite obvious neither team would make it into the europa league. Rangers would finish 8 - 11th

Celtic would finish at like 10 - 15th position.

Not really worth it for them i dont think they wouldnt be winning titles.

Everton manager David Moyes has backed proposals for a two-tier Premier League involving Celtic and Rangers.

The idea, suggested by Bolton chairman Phil Gartside, will be discussed by Premier League clubs next week.

"I'd like to see it because I'm a Scotsman and I think it would be great to see Celtic and Rangers initially in a Premier League Two," said Moyes.

"TV would be interested, media would be interested and the crowds at every ground in the country would increase."

Moyes added: "Both Celtic and Rangers have as big a support as any team in England. From that point of view it would help the game in England if we need a boost in revenue."

Gartside's plan, initially proposed last year, involves the Premier League being expanded into two divisions of 18 teams.

The inclusion of Glasgow giants Celtic and Rangers could lead to an increase in television revenue that would be spread across a greater number of teams.

Gartside, one of the longest-serving chairmen in the top flight, said when he first floated the idea that he felt it would make the Premier League more competitive.

The proposals have struggled to gain support, with the top clubs keen to protect the status quo. Any change to the Premier League rules would require 14 clubs to vote in favour.

"I would rather this than an Atlantic league, or some other European league," said Moyes, a former Celtic player. "We have Welsh teams playing in English football so why not Scottish?

"The Scottish teams are really, really big clubs and I feel it would be good for everyone.

I think they should leave SPL as it is. It works and it's great... but meh. People need to stop insulting the style of play etc in SPL - it's obvious why. It's got no reputation so never attracts BIG players, less money, less funding, less attendance (small country). It's not comparable to English clubs.

Rangers need new investment or it will be major cut backs, been in the papers..

Same with Celtic to be honest, they even began considering selling the likes of Brown and McGeady. The SPL in general needs a cash influx, it's hardly fair that a league can barely even afford homegrown players.

30stone
07-11-2009, 01:14 PM
Rangers and Celtic dont and wont do well in europe particularly. Not enough money.
If they join the EPL, i can't see either being able to keep a pl spot.

They get in because they play sides equvelent to championship teams.
They themselves when they have played well against top premier league sides, its like a cup final they go all out to win where as a top pl club wont even play a full starting 11 and still beat them.

I dont think they could keep form, for 38 games against pl teams.

Lauren
07-11-2009, 01:55 PM
Rangers do well in Europe... UEFA cup final 08... but never in the Champions League. It's to do with lack of funding. Rangers have such a small team that one injury (for example, Edu) has set them back somewhat.

There's too many complications with putting the Old Firm in EPL. Keep the SPL as it is, I love it!!

30stone
07-11-2009, 02:10 PM

I still like Bent, and <3 Steed.

Benty was really patient for us and rarely ever complained about being the bench so much. When he started he did his best and was top scorer, but it wasn't enough, just doesn't fit into our system really. Worried about him scoring today; but Defoe and possibly Lennon's back so we'll hopefully have some firepower.

their star players, Aren't really stars..

Take Toure hasnt performed for Arsenal for a season and a half.
Lescott good at going forward, but not the biggest of best centre back.
Barry, good player but isnt a magician he was better at villa.
Tevez doesn't score enough, works rate is great but i think he has to work that much harder to be good.
Adebayor, best buy for them, good goal scorer, knows where the net is, fast tall strong.. has a bad temper though..
As for the most expensive player in the pl, Robinho, he is okay, but hes overpriced for what he does.

Simply Amazing. If we do sell him to barca, he should go for over 50m based on other transfers this year.

Yeah I agree. The Old Firm going to England or this Atlantic League thing is something that crops up now and again, but will never happen.

What would be left of the SPL if it did happen wouldn't have much interest in it either.

-Barcelona look to over do Real madrids offer for christiano ronaldo by putting in a 85million bid for 24 year old wayne rooney. - Paper talk there is not quote from player agent or either club, So its just rubbish i believe.

-Hicks insists no liverpool stars will be sold, from lack of funds.

-Doessena want to leave liverpool, to return to italian league.

-Wenger has said his desire to win the title is more than ever after destroying wolves 4 - 1, and having chelsea and man utd playing today.

-Arsenal coming to molinuex sold out every seat in the stadium.

-After spectacular form Robin Van Persie looks to be given a chance as Hollands central lone striker, usually Huntelaar or V.Nistelrooy are the central attacker and van persie starts on the right but after out performing his team mates he will get the chance to lead hollands attack.

Chelsea top 10 transfer targets.

Player - Team name - Liklihood to sign.
Sergio Aguero (Atletico Madrid) : 4/5
Gary Cahill (Bolton) : 3/5
Goran Pandev (Lazio) : 3/5
Jack Rodwell (Everton) : 3/5
Angel de Maria (Benfica) : 4/5
James Milner (Aston Villa) : 2/5
Patrick Vieira (Inter Milan) : 4/5 - Essien out at the africa cup nations and mikel, Viera would be a great replacement.
Aaron Lennon (Spurs) : 3/5
David Villa (Valencia) : 4/5 - Without drogba during africa cup nations he is the perfect player to fill the gap, world class simply amazing player.
Ashley Young (Aston Villa) : 3/5

You're never going to get sent off for a challenge like that- just a clash in the air.

Terry should have given away a penalty in the first half and United had more openings in the match and would have capitalised on them only for some wayward passing.

United outplayed them at Stamford Bridge. And don't get me started on that free kick and the goal that came from it.

Yeah they did outplay them. but chelsea do what united do against everyone else which is grind a result.

And yes it should have been a card, the ball wasnt even within 2 foot of him.
He went up with his foot out infront of him right into drogbas chest.
Very very dangerous could have easily broken his ribs.

Yes, it's dangerous but would have been very hard to spot and they were up in the air challenging when it happened. One of those ones that will never be given.

And the goal should never have counted.... don't remember any other chances for Chelsea- United completely stifled them.

I feel worse for his wife. Losing her daughter... and then making a new life with an adopted child and now lost her husband :( Poor woman.

And also the adopted child has lost their first set of parents (to whatever circumstance) - and now have lost their 'second' father. Such a shame he felt there was no way out.

You have the same system as last year, you have the same players (bar Alonso) as last year, but you come up with two completely different results. How is this possible? This Liverpool side has a remarkable Jekyll and Hyde character about it. Swinging from the dizzying heights of last season, topping the table at Christmas, to sitting in a lowly seventh place in November this season, 11 points behind the current league leaders. What has changed so drastically during this relatively short period of time?

As much as I admire Xabi Alonso, his sale cannot be at fault for conceding 18 goals in 12 games while it took over 26 matches last season, and I do not see how you can lose 5 games this season while having lost only one this time last season. Something seems to be amiss at the club. Albert Riera thinks he knows the answer: a “Mental Block.” It is an interesting proposition which shows to all outsiders the lack of confidence that has spread through the team which has led to Liverpool’s title hopes all but vanishing and being on the cusp of an early Champions League exit. Riera believes that despite the 2-2 draw against Birmingham, they could have done no more to win the game:

Top 10 premier league flops so far this season..

Ben Foster (Man Utd) - England's next No.1, Fergie's current No.3. Foster has struggled to cope with the spotlight, making several high-profile errors - most notably this howler in the Manchester derby, which resulted in a Gareth Barry goal.

Jamie Carragher (Liverpool) - Off the pace. Still capable of putting in top-quality performances, but is currently enduring one of the worst patches of form in his recent career.

Wayne Bridge (Man City) - I'm with Alan Hansen; Bridge is a very limited defender who is barely Premier League class, let alone international standard.

Joleen Lescott (Man City) - Unlike Bridge, Lescott is a decent player. Yet to show it for his new club, though. - No defensively, but hes been scoring..

Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd) - Struggling with his fitness and looks a shadow of the world-class defender we know he is. Too many magazine and movie launches?

Michael Carrick (Man Utd) - Capable of sublime football but frustratingly passive. Just not doing it for United. - Completely disagree with this one, hasn't played too many matches but from what ive seen hes played well

Paul Scholes (Man Utd) - On the wane. Still can't tackle for ****.- List is starting to go downhill lol

Ryan Babel (Liverpool) - Should be approaching the prime of his career. Isn't. Must be sold.

Nani (Man Utd) - Like Cristiano Ronaldo but without the goals and assists. About as useful as a chocolate teapot, in other words. - Disagree again, started his season very strongly has got a few assists and a couple of goals.

Roman Pavlyuchenko (Spurs) - One of the worst strikers I've ever seen in a Tottenham shirt. - I dont think so he just never gets played..

Emile Heskey (Aston Villa) - Great in an England shirt, can't get it done for Villa. Enigmatic.

Manchester City have been told by Benfica that star forward Angel Di Maria will cost them £36m after they made him their top target to replace Brazilian Robinho, who has been linked with Barcelona.
