Didier Drogba demands Chelsea outmuscle Arsenal and Spurs to snap up Patrick Vieira

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has urged Carlo Ancelotti to sign Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira in January.

Arsenal and Tottenham both offered the Inter Milan midfielder a return to north London in the summer before the France international opted to stay at the San Siro.

But Vieira is well down the pecking order under former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and the 33-year-old, who watched the Blues beat Liverpool on Sunday, will consider a move in order to play first-team football ahead of the World Cup.

Chelsea have been banned from signing any players during the next two transfer windows and will lose John Mikel Obi and Michael Essien from their midfield during the Africa Cup of Nations.

The club has appealed against their suspension and Drogba wants his manager to move for ex-Arsenal skipper Vieira if it is upheld.

He told The Sun: 'It would be a good move for Chelsea to bring Patrick in. Don't forget we are going to miss several players in January, particularly in midfield, because of the African Nations Cup.

'We played against Vieira last summer and he was very strong.'

He had a go at him once cuz they were all having a pop at Gary Neville and Keane went ape sh£t. He scared them all senseless. Really.

Midfield is all about dominance and influencing play and Keane could ruffle so many players up, including Viera.

He was in a different class and most ex players would rate him as the greatest midfielder in premiership history.

Bitesize news time. All teams today.

-Ivory Coast international striker Didier Drogba inisists he has never been tempted to leave Chelsea and sign for Manchester City.

-Udinese midfielder Gokhan Inler will consider his future at the end of the season.
Only in August, Inler's agent revealed the interest of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger in the Switzerland international.

-USA international Eddie Johnson has hinted that he is considering leaving Fulham on loan to help his chances of playing in next summer's World Cup finals.

-Kolo Toure says moving to Manchester City is extra special because of his African roots.
City skipper Toure, a £15m signing from Arsenal, said he was motivated by memories of fellow African Marc-Vivien Foe, the former Cameroon star who collapsed and died during a Confederations Cup match in 2003.

-League One outfit Brighton have snapped up young Arsenal defender Gavin Hoyte on a one-month loan deal.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen for the highly-rated 19-year-old to get some first-team action under his belt and did not hesitate when the Seagulls came knocking.

-Following Real Madrid's acquisitions of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo and the consequent unavailable tag now associated with the pair, the label of most coveted attacker in world football now falls on the shoulders of Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery. It is estimated to take up to £65m to convince Bayern to part company with their star player.

-Arsenal have been told that they will have to spend a sizeable chunk of Arsène Wenger's estimated £50 million war chest if they want to buy St Étienne captain Blaise Matuidi in January.

-Edwin van der Sar is backing Ben Foster to recover from his current problems, but warned his team-mate he also intends to take back his Manchester United place between the posts.
Foster has endured a turbulent few weeks, being blamed for two Manchester City goals in the thrilling Old Trafford derby last month before being brushed aside far too easily by Sunderland's Kenwyne Jones last weekend.

-Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger sees no connection between Patrick Vieira's sale in 2005 with the reason why the Gunners have not won a trophy since.
The Frenchman insists that it is not his absence that has led to the subsequent lack of success.

-Man Utd are lining up a 35million bid for David Villa - Rooney and Villa would be an amazing strike partnership.

-Marouane Chamakh says he'll only leave Bordeaux for a foreign move.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has already hinted at making another bid for the Morocco international in January while Juventus are reportedly also set to join the chase.

Emile Heskey has admitted he will consider leaving Aston Villa in January in a bid to secure his place in the England squad for next summer's World Cup.

The striker, who only joined Villa from Wigan at the start of the year, has started just one Premier League match this season.

He played for England in their defeat in Ukraine on Saturday, though, and currently appears to be Fabio Capello's favoured partner for Wayne Rooney.

But the former Liverpool forward is aware his lack of games for his club could harm his chances of getting picked in the squad for South Africa.

"I'm happy to be playing for England and, obviously, not playing at club level is difficult," he said in the Guardian. "It's something I will have to look at when I get back and try to address it."

Asked whether that meant he would seek a move in the winter transfer window, Heskey said: "That's what I mean. I will have to sit down and think about my next move. I don't know whether I can get a World Cup place if I'm not playing for Villa.

"The manager (Capello) hasn't really spoken to me about it. I just have to keep performing well in training and keep going. But you always wonder about those kind of things, whether it will affect my chances. I will just have to try to address it when the time is right."

THANK THE HEAVENS!

BELGIUM WANT FELLAINI BANNED

Belgium have asked FIFA to prevent midfielder Marouane Fellaini from playing for Everton this weekend.

After playing in Belgium's win over Turkey at the weekend, he has pulled out of their clash with Estonia because of surgery he needed on his wisdom teeth.

The Toffees were convinced that Fellaini had an agreement in place with new Belgium boss Dick Advocaat, that if he played at the weekend he would be free to miss the match with Estonia.

But the Belgian FA (KBVB) have insisted Fellaini did not have permission to miss the match on Wednesday, and as such they have asked FIFA to apply their five-day rule.

Should a player miss an international fixture after being called up, and he does not have the permission of that country to do so, then he can be banned from playing any match for the next five days.

That would mean that Fellaini could not play until next week, ruling him out of Everton's clash with Wolves.

"Fellaini is called for the match with Estonia. If he decides not to come, he knows the consequences," Belgium FA's director general Jean-Marie Phillips confirmed to De Standaard.

"Mr Advocaat has asked that the FIFA regulations strictly apply and therefore Marouane may not play this weekend with Everton.

"The coach has talked with Fellaini, but I do not know what he said - I would imagine that he tried to convince him that the operation could be done another time - but he obviously did not succeed.

"I am happy that everyone around the Red Devils are on the same wavelength, but if FIFA decides in Everton's favour we will accept that."

Everton, though, insist that Fellaini will be free to face Wolves at the weekend.

"We released Marouane for both games and have complied with all our obligations," Everton spokesman Ian Ross said.

"He had an understanding with the manager that if he played on Saturday, he'd be released from the Wednesday game. The manager appears to have changed his mind.

"But this is a personal dispute between the player and the coach. Everton's not to blame and in our view there is nothing that can prevent Marouane from playing on Saturday against Wolverhampton. "

Bitesize News:

-Brazil defender Alex has signed a new four-year deal with Chelsea, the Premier League leaders said on Tuesday.
"I am very happy Alex has signed a new contract," Ancelotti told the club's website. "He is just returning from surgery but he is a player I know well. I am familiar with his fantastic qualities."

-Arsenal are favourites to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Stephane Sessegnon when he eventually leaves the Ligue 1 outfit, according to the player's agent.
The 25-year-old has made 34 appearances for the French outfit since arriving from Le Mans in 2008, netting six goals.

-Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is determined to fight off the advances of Atletico Madrid and Seville to retain the services of 19-year-old midfielder Fran Merida.

-Liverpool are considering making a cut-price £1.5m bid for Aston Villa's Emile Heskey in January. The striker revealed at the weekend he was considering leaving the Midlands club to get first-team football, thereby boosting his chances of landing a place in England's squad for the 2010 World Cup finals.

-Arsenal are chasing Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiebling, according to the player's agent. Kiebling has been in superb form so far this season, and is the leading scorer in the Bundesliga.
His agent Ali Bulut said: 'Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Milan are the clubs that have shown an interest.
'He wants to move to a big club.'

-West Brom will not be signing former Arsenal defender Sol Campbell as they cannot afford his wages.

-Gokhan Inler is refusing to discuss a new contract with Udinese amid reports of a scrap between Arsenal and Inter Milan for the Switzerland midfielder.

-Manchester City are lining up a £20m swoop for Brazil and Inter Milan full-back Maicon in January and will target Benfica midfielder Ramires if they fail with a £65m bid for Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery.

-Arsene Wenger has hailed William Gallas' influence on Arsenal's new-look defence.
The veteran centre-back was on target for France in Saturday's 5-0 World Cup qualifying win over Faroe Islands, which secured a place in the play-offs, as he added to his three goals for the Gunners.
It has certainly been quite a transformation for the former Chelsea man, who this time last year was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy after publicly questioning the mentality of Wenger's young squad.

-Barcelona have shown very little respect for our great club in their dogged and annoying pursuit of their former youth team player and current Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas and with that in mind a move for one of their soon to be out of contract stars would be an intelligent signing and as well as a big ‘up yours’ to the Catalan side for good measure.
31 year old centre back Carles Puyol has of course done it all in his decade plus at the heart of the Barcelona defence but recent rumours have suggested that he may well be looking for a new challenge and that his boss Pepe Guardiola is looking to younger alternatives to the shaggy haired defender.

-Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling is interesting Arsenal, as well as several other high-profile European outfits, according to the player’s agent.
The 25-year-old 6ft 3in front-man has netted 33 league goals in 101 appearances since arriving from Nuremberg in 2006.
And the forward, who has won two caps for Germany to date, is currently the leading scorer in the Bundesliga this season with six goals, firing Leverkusen to top spot on goal difference.
As a result, reports have surfaced linking him with a move to pastures new during the winter transfer window.
And the player’s representitive, Ali Bulut, has confirmed that Arsenal, as well as Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Juventus are all monitoring his progress.

-Fulham, Wigan and Liverpool all in for emile heskey

All the news (=
Have fun.

Everton hit purple patch with record sales of kit honouring murdered schoolboy Rhys Jones

An Everton kit launched to raise money in memory of murdered schoolboy Rhys Jones is proving a massive hit with fans.

The limited edition purple design has become the club’s fastest selling pre-ordered shirt.

Everton hope to raise £100,000 for the Liverpool Unites children's charity, which was inspired by both the Reds and Blues coming together in Liverpool following the death of Jones in August 2007.

Heard the funniest thing ever..

Dave Whelan - Wigan Chairman
"Emile is a great player, any club in the world would love to have him, you can give him a long ball and he will bring it down and control it, and when you have people like john terry saying he's hard to play against you know hes good"

So because john terry gave him a bit of sympathy hes great?
As for his ability to control a ball infront of goal- he cant.
As for any club would love to have him, if he came to arsneal i dont think i could support them if they actually spent money on him.

-Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is being linked with a January move for Spurs out of favour striker Roman Pavlyuchenko.
The 27-year-old hitman made joined Spurs in the summer of 2008 in a £14million move from Spartak Moscow. However, the Russian international now finds himself fourth in the striking pecking order at White Hart Lane and reports have suggested he could be set for a January move away from Spurs.

-Chelsea are hoping Joe Cole will become the latest player to commit his future by signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
Defender Alex and striker Soloman Kalou have become the latest players to sign new deals as Chelsea look to secure their top stars and they are now looking for Cole to do the same.

-Manchester City could be ready to make a sensational bid for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas next summer, according to reports in Spain.
Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been linked with the Spanish midfielder – who has insisted he has no desire to leave the Gunners. - If Fabregas will leave he will leave for a spanish club, thats just fact.

-Arsenal are hot favourites to land midfielder Stephane Sessegnon if the player leaves Paris Saint-Germain in the future.

-Samir Nasri believes he should be back in action for the Premier League clash with West Ham on 25th October.
The Arsenal midfielder has yet to play this season after breaking his leg over the summer but Arsene Wenger recently revealed he was closing in on a comeback. - Meaning Nasri will miss Birmingham, AZ Alkmaar and West Ham but could be back for the Carling cup match against Liverpool.

Liverpool could be without both Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres for this Saturday’s Premier League clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Both players picked up injuries whilst on international duty for the countries and did not train with the squad at Melwood today (Thursday).

With some important games against Lyon and Manchester Utd ahead, Reds boss Rafa Benitez may not want to risk playing Gerrard and Torres in this Saturday’s 3pm kick-off.

A statement released by the club today said, “Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres will not train with the rest of the squad today, but will continue to receive treatment and will be assessed again tomorrow.”

Chelsea getting beat

Could manage to get ourselves back in the title race if we win today:

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Carragher, Babel, Lucas, Aurelio, Spearing, Benayoun, Kuyt.

Subs: Cavalieri, Voronin, Riera, Mascherano, Insua, Ngog, Kelly.

Surprised Spearing has been picked instead of Macherano, but he played good against Real last year and is our best reserve/youth player so hopefully he'll have another good game today.

Sunderland: Gordon, Bardsley, Turner, Ferdinand, McCartney, Malbranque, Cana, Cattermole, Reid, Bent, Jones. Subs: Fulop, Nosworthy, Zenden, Campbell, Henderson, Da Silva, Healy.

7 mins of stoppage time at the Stadium of Light, Liverpool have a massive lifeline here.

Man utd next hope for a draw.

Right. Didn't know we had Utd next.

If we beat them then we can be hopefull again.

If you beat them i would love liverpool for the day as we would be closer.

If we win our game in hand and man city win both their games in hand..

Then only Man utd and man city will be above us.

Lets hope them Saudi's invest into Liverpool soon for the next transfer window..

Everything Houlier (spelt?) did to build up the new Liverpool force is starting to crumble without the funds to fix the foundations..

No it wasn't it was going straight at Reina.

I think there was 90% chance of goalies ball there. The balloon incident was unfair but I doubt anyone can argue against Sunderland playing the better football today. No team is to blame for the balloon lol, so I can imagine how angry I'd be if it happened vice versa. BUT sunderland played better.

Owen will need to join the Taliban so he can get thrown out of the country... Or hide in Redcar, nobody goes to Redcar.
