Digital Spy:
Take That have notched up their eleventh number one on the UK singles chart.
'Greatest Day', the lead single from the group's upcoming album The Circus, debuts in the top spot this week. It becomes the group's third number one in five attempts since reforming in November 2005.
Last week's chart-topper, 'If I Were A Boy' by Beyoncé, falls to two, while T.I. and Rihanna climb to three with 'Live Your Life'.
Britney Spears bounces back to seven with 'Womanizer' following her performance on The X Factor, while Akon climbs to nine with 'Right Now (Na Na Na)'.
Meanwhile, singles by Same Difference and McFly both fall short of the top ten, debuting at 13 and 18 respectively.
Britain's Got Talent champion George Sampson also makes a disappointing chart debut, stalling at 30 with 'Get Up On The Dancefloor' / 'Headz Up'.

Album launch
Take That were mobbed by hundreds of thirtysomething fans as they prepared to begin a promotional tour for their fifth album The Circus.
Gary Barlow, 37, Mark Owen, 36, Jason Orange, 38, and Howard Donald, 40, were besieged as they arrived at St Pancras station in London to catch a Eurostar train to Paris.
The boys celebrated their eleventh number one on the UK singles chart this weekend after Greatest Day, the lead single from the album, debuted in the top spot. It is the group's third number one since reforming in November 2005.
The band are beginning a promotional tour for their fifth album The Circus
Barlow and Owen were most recently seen handing out friendly advice to X Factor finalists in a masterclass earlier this month.
Take That hysteria has been at its highest this year with their tour becoming the fastest-selling in UK history after fans snapped up 600,000 tickets in five hours last month.
The band's 2009 stadium tour, The Circus - Live, smashed UK box office records, including Michael Jackson's 1987 Bad tour.
As previously announced dates sold out, the band added two more - June 23 at Manchester's Old Trafford Cricket Ground and July 5 at London's Wembley Stadium.
A statement from the band said: 'We are, once again, totally astounded by the response today and amazed at being able to break such records - we feel very privileged to be in this position at such a time.
'We're all meeting up this afternoon to start planning next summer and promise to make it the very best show we've ever done. See you in 2009!'

BEING kidnapped by COLDPLAY last week was a proper showbiz adventure.
But going to France with TAKE THAT — the best pop act in Britain — for a double celebration last night was another treat.
The lads — GARY BARLOW, MARK OWEN, HOWARD DONALD and JASON ORANGE — took me on the Eurostar to Paris for the launch of their new album The Circus.
Mark was also planning a boys’ night out to wet his new daughter Willow Rose’s head. He told me: “You’re buying me a pint tonight.”
His wife Emma was left at home with the baby, who was born on Friday, as Mark headed off to France.
Take That are at No1 in the singles chart with Greatest Day and on course for the same spot in the album charts.
They are thumping BRITNEY SPEARS, whose album is called Circus, 5 to 1. And deservedly so after her feeble performance on X Factor.
Read Bizarre tomorrow for my exclusive interview with the band.

Album sales!!!!!
Take That are outselling Britney Spears in the album charts by a significant margin.
The group's new album The Circus is outselling Spears's LP Circus by as much as fourteen copies to one with some retailers, according to Festivalwise.
The reformed boyband shifted 20,000 copies in Asda stores alone when the CD went on sale yesterday, 7,000 more than the previous record set by Leona Lewis's debut.
Take That broke records last week when their new album became the most popular of all time on digital music store Play.
Band member Jason Orange refused to get competitive with Spears, telling the Daily Star: "It's not a big deal. Mark [Owen] is more bothered about it. It'll be unfortunate if she gets higher than us in the charts, then I'll be like: 'Bitch'. But as it stands now, it's one of those things."
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a137241/take-that-massively-outselling-britney.html
Woolworths collapse leave shelves empty of Take That
The collapse of Woolworths had a severe knock-on effect yesterday when Zavvi, the UK's second biggest record chain, was left with no copies of highly-anticipated new albums from Take That and Britney Spears.
The failure to sell two of the year's biggest albums on their first day of release is likely to have cost Zavvi hundreds of thousands of pounds in lost sales. Take That's The Circus album was expected to sell 80,000 copies alone on its first day of release yesterday. Last night supermarket Asda said that it sold around 20,000 copies of The Circus yesterday, its fastest-selling first-day release ever.

Take That’s Patience is the top tune to get babies to sleep, according to a survey.
The poll of 2,000 mums put Robbie Williams’ Angels second and the upbeat I Kissed A Girl by Katy Perry third.
One in ten mums said they could not remember lullaby lyrics.
Kathryn Crawford from thebabywebsite.com said: “We were really surprised.”

Review
The cover of Take That's fifth album depicts all four members balancing precariously on tightropes, but mastering the manoeuvre with poise and grace. It's an apt metaphor, in a way; when the former teen heartthrobs decided to make a comeback two years ago, it was something of a risky endeavour. Could four grown men best remembered for spelling their band's name out on their bum cheeks be taken as 'serious' artists? As it happens, they were - and it wasn't just their loyal fanbase that welcomed them back with open arms, either.
So, building on their hugely successful return should be an easy feat for the Mancunian man-band - just turn in another collection of vaguely poppy tracks and a couple of sombre ballads, and hey presto! You've got another hit album on your hands. As formulaic as that sounds, however, Take That manage to add a dash of panache to The Circus, which is more than can be said for a number of their ill-advised peers.
Unlike their last record, there's perhaps no immediate hit apparent here; these are mostly tracks that start from seeds of doleful piano hazes, before blooming into orchestral wonders. The Garden is a good example, its horn-laden crescendo providing a festive-tinted opener, as does the slightly hoary title track, all Chicago-like sentiment and gramophone-filtered vocals. The best tracks, though, are the ones billowing with Beatles-style pomp; Hello's brisk tempo, Jason Orange's sweet trill on the easygoing How Did It Come to This, the carnival-style (if somewhat cliched) pep of Up All Night.
No doubt about it: as pop albums go, this is fairly standard fare. But Take That know and accept their boundaries, and they perform the songs within them with enthusiasm and a indisputable seal of quality. And all four members can sing, too - which again, is more than can be said for a number of their ill-advised peers.

Cuteness article
We haven’t met her yet, but we’ve been asked to be godmums to Mark Owen’s newborn daughter – and we’ll Take That as a massive compliment!
And who better to offer spiritual guidance to baby Willow Rose than the 3am girls? After all, there’s not one spirit we haven’t downed, gargled or set light to.
Mark, er, popped the question when we joined Take That in their first-class carriage on board the Eurostar to Paris. Handing round the bubbly he said: “I’m thrilled you girls could join us to wet the baby’s head.”
As we presented him with a 3am embroidered Babygro, he got all teary-eyed and said: “Thank you so much. We’re getting my son Ellwood and Willow Rose baptised next year once the tour is over. Would you girls like to be honorary godmothers?
“Willow Rose is gorgeous. You’re here to help us celebrate the launch of the new album and me becoming a dad again. It’ll be a wild night.”
Mark and the lads certainly have plenty to celebrate at the moment. Take That are at the top of the charts with single Greatest Day, and their new album, The Circus, is expected to follow suit this weekend.
And a certain Mr Orange may be made an offer he can’t refuse… Talking of Willow’s godfather, Mark added: “I’m not 100 per cent sure who from the band I’m going to ask yet – if you ask one, you’ve got to ask the other two as well.
“But I think Jason will be the one. He was best man at his brother’s wedding last weekend. Seeing how seriously he took his duties, I was blown away. Jase is really responsible, there will definitely be a tenner in the post every birthday and Christmas.”
Mark was in good form, considering that as a new dad he is “knackered”. He told us: “I’m not getting a lot of sleep, I’m absolutely knackered. I do my fair share of the night runs. I’m also a dab hand with dirty nappies.” Yuk.
Mark also revealed that his young son helped pick the final playlist for The Circus.
He said: “We had between 20 and 30 tracks that needed to be cut down and Ellwood gave his verdict on them all. His favourites are Greatest Day, The Garden and Julie – all the ones I feature in most heavily. I’ve brainwashed him.”
Last night we were the boys’ special guests at their private album showcase at Paris’s VIP Club.

From Heatworld about album sales
It seems that Britney’s disappointing X Factor appearance hasn’t helped her album sales – the much-hyped album chart battle between her and the swoonsome Take That is not going well for her. In fact, Take That’s new album The Circus is outselling Britney’s Circus (confusing much?) by 14 to one at some stores – eek! The TT album is actually Asda’s fastest-selling release ever based on Monday’s sales (20,000 in one day!), beating the record set by Leona Lewis last year. It’s a rather good week for the boys all in all, with their single Greatest Day sitting at the top of the charts too. So, whose CD will you be putting at top of your Christmas list (or rushing out to buy right away, if you’re an instant gratification sort)?

Obviously sales figures aren't allowed here but the boys are outselling number 2 by nearly 5 times as many albums (and no, its not Britney at Number 2!)

Nice articles!
TAKE That are celebrating yet another record-breaking week.
And they have promised fans they ain’t seen nothing yet.
I was with the kings of pop in Paris to launch brilliant new album The Circus, which scored the biggest first day sales of 2008 on Monday.
And with albums flying off the shelves, the classy collection looks like outstripping the mammoth sales of predecessor Beautiful World.
But while the lads were a picture of blushing modesty in my presence, they confessed that ruling the Top 40 and a monster sell-out stadium tour were actually part of a grand masterplan all along.
Gary Barlow, 37, revealed: “We wrote the album with stadiums in mind.
“We imagined how it would be to sing the songs on stage at Wembley before we even started writing.
“We thought now was the time to do it.”
The Circus has trounced Britney’s new album, also called Circus, this week by shifting more than 133,000 copies in just one day and Gaz is on top of the world.
Surrounded by swooning French lasses and British girls who’d been lucky enough to bag tickets to the posh VIP bash, he added: “I feel like we will never be bigger than we are now – this is it.”
That’s good news for their rivals. But personally I think TT have the ability to grow further if they continue making cracking pop albums like The Circus.
lt was a double celebration for Mark Owen, who was still toasting the arrival of his new daughter Willow.
I clinked champers glasses with the pop cutie, 36, after the lads had wowed on stage with a trademark charismatic performance.
Proud Mark beamed: “If someone had told me a few years ago we’d be back with another hit album and I’d have two kids I’d never have believed them. It’s brilliant – we are so lucky.”
I don’t think luck has anything to do with it, lads.
Jason Orange has finally conquered his fear of failure.
The 38-year-old got so jittery he nearly bailed out of Take That’s initial reunion press conference and got the wobbles on tour.
Reformed Jay told me: “I’ve really got over my nerves. I used to panic before everything we did but now I just go with the flow. It is what it is.”
Pleased to hear it mate.
Howard Donald isn’t looking forward to the festive season.
While most of us gorge on mince pies, turkey and all the trimmings once, the 40-year-old has to stuff himself silly twice.
He explained: “I’m doing two Christmases so I can be with both my daughters, Grace and Lola. It’s going to be a bit full-on.”
I’m sure the six-pack won’t take long to fix.
It’s official – Take That are the biggest band in the UK.
By the end of next year they will have performed to more than two million fans since their comeback in 2005. Next year’s sell-out stadium jaunt has become the fastest-selling tour of all time.
These shows, combined with their Ultimate and Beautiful World tours, will see the boys playing to more people than any other UK act this century.
http://www.dailystar.co.uk/playlist/view/60955/Take-That-album-smashes-records/
GARY BARLOW is leading a secret life away from the luxury of a chart-topping pop star.
When Gaz isn’t grafting with TAKE THAT or looking after his two kids, he is lurking at the back of dingy music venues around London looking for the next, well, Gary Barlow.
I revealed last month that he has started his own management and publishing company to nurture future chart stars.
And when the lads took me to France this week for the launch of their latest album The Circus, Gaz discussed his secret passion for talent-hunting for the first time.
He told me: “I am at a lot of gigs, me. I go to The Dublin Castle, Boogaloo, The Bedford.
“I don’t wear a disguise but I’m up the back keeping it low-key. It’s mostly in London. Now and again I am in Manchester. I work with our tour promoter on a lot of the scouting.
“We do three things — publishing, management and we sign acts to Universal. I love all that stuff. It is my future.
“I don’t want to be SIMON COWELL but I will do what he has done but my way. He goes for people he thinks he can make into something, I try to find people who are already something.”
A great example of that is Wembley rock singer/songwriter Gary Co, who he has signed, says Gary.
“He has produced and written everything himself. I love that. It makes me better. I sit and work with them and see what it is they are doing.”
But Gary — who last month gave X Factor finalists a masterclass with bandmate MARK OWEN — can’t see a future for himself as a smug talent-show judge spouting off about endless woeful renditions of the band’s 1995 chart-topper Back For Good.
He said: “I can’t see myself being an X Factor judge. Being down there the other week was weird.
Nervous
“You walk out there and Cowell’s just looking at you. It puts you on edge straight away. How those kids must feel every week. It’s nerve-wracking. I’d be bloody nervous.
The truth is, I wouldn’t have got through if I had tried. It’s terrible.”
But he did have some thoughts on BRITNEY SPEARS’ X Factor disaster on Saturday night — in which the pop princess mimed her single Womanizer on the live talent contest.
“I was not impressed,” he said. “But I don’t know what everyone was expecting.
“I have seen her on TV before doing exactly that. Why did we expect her to do anything different? It’s gone.”
If any band is qualified to pass comment, Take That are up there.
Gary, Mark, HOWARD DONALD and JASON ORANGE have just enjoyed the most incredible sales of their career.
The Circus has shifted a whopping 134,000 copies after ONE DAY on shop shelves and will easily eclipse the 200,000 first-week sales managed by Sunday’s No1, Day & Age by THE KILLERS.
Take That have a great chance of beating COLDPLAY to the title of fastest-selling album of the year – Viva La Vida sold 302,000 in its first week.
And the boys were in the mood to celebrate on Monday night. They knocked back vodkas and danced with fans after a showcase in Paris.
They played some new tunes from the album, including Greatest Day and Julie, which will be a surefire hit with Mark on lead vocals.
The best thing about the lads is that they still seem stunned about their success second time round.
After their sell-out tour next summer, they will have cemented their place in British music history as one of the best bands this country has ever produced.
Once that is done, Gary should have more time to find the next band capable of beating their incredible pop CV.

Lmao, there's an article about Mark's hat!
Take Hat
Nov 30 2008 By Heather Greenaway
The Trilby Gets Head Start In Fashion Stakes Thanks To Boyband Star Mark
TAKE THAT star Mark Owen knows how to get ahead this winter...wear a hat.
The 36-year-old singer is rarely seen without a Frank Sinatra-style trilby.
The boyband legend, whose girlfriend Emma Ferguson gave birth to their daughter Willow Rose last week, has a huge selection of hats to choose from.
He sported a black felt trilby on last week's X Factor.
This month he wore a brown velvet trilby with black trim to meet Girls Aloud stars Sarah Harding and Cheryl Cole.
In Christmas promotions for Marks & Spencer he wears a black fedora-style hat but is given a green trilby by Twiggy.
A black velvet trilby was worn on an ITV special to promote Take That's album The Circus. And Mark was spotted wearing a straw trilby with a striped band in May.
GMTV fashion expert Mark Heyes says the trilby is staging a comeback.
He said: "The trick is to wear it when dressing down, not with a suit. The scruffier the look, the better. Mark wears a trilby with jeans and a T-shirt, which is the way to do it."
Here we pick out 10 of the hottest hats flying off the shelves on the high street.
http://www.sundaymail.co.uk/news/newsfeed/2008/11/30/take-hat-78057-20934885/
What I find really funny is they go on about all the different hat's he has,he does have loads(I've seen about a gazillion of them) but the one he's been wearing lately is the SAME ONE!

It was only fair that Gary Barlow got his recognition as a pop songwriter following his belly-flop of solo career, and of course it's always sweet to see Jason, Howard and Mark grinning like little boys on Christmas morning. But we've had plenty of time to reminisce over 'Back For Good' and 'Pray', dusted off the old tour T-shirts, and even let their Beautiful World LP take over our airwaves, so shouldn't we all grow up a bit now and let the boys retreat to their country estates?
Apparently not. The Circus, the group's fifth studio album, is already breaking pre-sale records, while next summer's stadium shows are defying the credit crunch and racking up ticket sales not seen since Michael Jackson was at his Moonwalking peak. Meanwhile, lead single 'Greatest Day', which has already become their eleventh number one, is the epitome of a pop "grower", sneaking up on you after about seven listens and battering you into submission with its hearty chorus and angelic harmonies.
Gary Barlow, whose attempt to become an Elton John for the nineties briefly made him a national figure of fun, is the cunning mastermind behind this return. If 'Patience' and 'Rule The World' didn't convince you of his songwriting genius, The Circus should finally make your mind up. Opener 'The Garden' is a stunning, string-laden epic with a chorus so massive it requires a marching brass band for backing; 'Said It All' is a swirling mega-ballad with a killer key change, and 'Hold Up A Light', led by Mark Owen, is a fist-pumping anthem that will require a lot of ticker tape when played live.
Perhaps Barlow's smartest move is to mix these brooding, Snow Patrol-with-personality moments with titbits of giddy pop. The earnestness that sank his solo career is reined in here by Mark, Jason and Howard's natural instincts for fun. Between the piano-tinkling title track and so-so acoustic meandering of 'What Is Love', we get Mark's cheeky 'Up All Night', which is effectively 'Shine #2' and Jason's barmy 'How Did It Come To This', which has lyrics about "OCD", "Camden town" and "compartmentalising".
Take That's pride in being a pop group is at the heart of what makes The Circus such a triumph. In a musical landscape where guitar bands strive for chart success and pop acts are attempting to be alternative, the innocence of the jaunty, Beatles-esque romp 'Hello' and hidden salsa track 'She Said' is refreshing. It may not completely destroy the belief that Take That are better at making singles than albums, but The Circus certainly stands up as one of the more impressive pop releases of the year.****

Not sure if Princess has reported this already;
Take That will reportedly appear on the reinstated Top Of The Pops Christmas Special, singing their hit 'Greatest Day'.
According to The Sun, the group will be joined for the event by Girls Aloud, Pussycat Dolls, Duffy, Kaiser Chiefs, Dizzee Rascal and Calvin Harris, McFly and the X Factor winner.
Mark Owen, who promised a "special performance" said: "Top Of The Pops is a national institution. It should come back every week."
The BBC confirmed the return of the special in November following fears that the show was to be axed, with Fearne Cotton and Reggie Yates confirmed to present.

Take That's new album has become the third fastest selling LP in chart history.
The Circus sold 432,000 copies since Monday to debut at number one on the UK albums chart.
Only Oasis's 1997 disc Be Here Now and Coldplay's 2005 platter X&Y sold more in their first week of release.
Meanwhile, The Killers slip to two with Day & Age, while Britney Spears debuts at four with sixth album Circus.
Elsewhere, X Factor duo Same Difference land at 22 with debut album Pop.

From Heatworld
A very good week for Take That...
Take That's new album The Circus has sold a massive 432,000 copies in just a week, making it the fastest-selling album of the year in the UK. The Circus now ranks as the third quickest mover of all time, with only Oasis and Coldplay above it. Get them. Take That are now officially pop royalty, ranking above the likes of Dido, Arctic Monkeys, Michael Jackson and a certain Robbie Williams! But they're not the only ones with something to celebrate – as predicted, Leona Lewis is Number One in the singles charts with her cover of Run, and it's also broken the record to become the fastest-selling download ever.

The Sun
How's about That then fellas?
By shifting 432,000 copies in a week, their new record The Circus has become easily the fastest-selling album of the year in the UK. And it’s the third-quickest mover of all time.
Only OASIS’s Be Here Now and COLDPLAY’s X&Y have sold more — meaning Take That now rank above DIDO, ARCTIC MONKEYS, MICHAEL JACKSON and a little-known former boyband singer named ROBBIE WILLIAMS.
And here’s another example of how staggering their latest sales figures are — The Circus has shifted more units than the combined sales of the next FIVE artists in this week’s chart — global music giants THE KILLERS, LEONA LEWIS, BRITNEY SPEARS, KINGS OF LEON and, erm, RHYDIAN.
But forget all the stats. Today proves Take That are now a British institution and true pop royalty.
The first time around, when they were all oiled chests, skimpy clobber and silly dance moves, it wasn’t cool for lads to like them.
But now it’s uncool NOT to like the re-formed manband — who show off their more mature look in my exclusive new pictures.
What’s more, while most groups on the comeback trail claim they’re not in it for the filthy lucre, Take That really mean it.
A pal of the band told me: “They’ve been offered lots of big-money gigs over Christmas and New Year but said no to spend time with their families instead.
“They’re going to make some time to get together as a foursome before the end of the year too — and have a proper old-school celebration.”
Gary said: “We set out to make a record each of us was really proud of and we did that.
“To then have it fly off the shelves like it did this week has been just amazing.”
And to think people said it would never be the same when Robbie left.

Why it's cool to love Take That
By Edith Bowman
IT is one of the great comebacks in pop history.
After 432,000 first-week sales of their new album, Take That rank alongside giants Oasis and Coldplay.
And now anyone from girls to trendy blokes can like them.
Here Radio1 DJ Edith Bowman, a champion of cutting edge bands, says why . . .
IF you want any proof about how it has become acceptable to like Take That now, then I can provide it.
I was at the MTV awards in Liverpool a few weeks ago and I was on the red carpet interviewing guests for Scott Mills’ show.
We were over- running a bit and it passed 7pm and we started eating into Zane Lowe’s show.
I asked Zane, who bear in mind is about as cutting edge as you can get, if he wanted me to grab anyone like Lemar or The Killers. ‘Or how about Take That?’ I joked. I thought he’d tell me where to go.
But straight away he said, ‘Hell yeah, can you get me Gary Barlow?’
Then on air he proceeded to profess his love for the man band and hail the songwriting genius of Gary.
I challenge anyone who still thinks Take That are a boy band to compare Barlow’s songwriting with the likes of Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol or Tom Chaplin from Keane.
There’s not a great difference between the three. Yet, for some reason, there is still a stigma attached to loving Take That, particularly for blokes.
But that, thankfully, is changing.
I’ve always loved Take That. I went to see them at the MEN Arena in Manchester when I was 15 and it was a great night.
I’ve enjoyed all sorts of music from loads of different genres but there will always be a place for Take That.
Back in the day they penned pop classics including Back For Good and Never Forget. For me, the old stuff never died.
I’ve always been out of the closet with my love for them. It’s never been a problem for me to hold my hand up and proudly say, ‘I am a Take That fan’.
A lot of the cool kids turned their noses up when the band announced they were to reform.
But slowly there has been a realisation, particularly among a lot of blokes, that the new stuff is quality.
Although, sadly, a lot of them will be scared to admit it till the day they die.
I’m glad it’s becoming easier to confess to being a fan, though, and the more guys who put their prejudice aside and say they are into it, the better.
The band are incredibly likeable, they don’t pretend they’re anything they’re not.
They are just a bunch of wholesome guys and great role models for anyone who looks up to them.
For those who still refuse to accept they are a great band who write great songs, then I say it’s time to get over the fact they are Take That.
I’m on the judging panel for the Brits next year and, in the Best British Album category they are in there with The Streets, Snow Patrol, Razorlight and Coldplay.
And they are as deserving, if not more so, than any of those others. Why shouldn’t they win? They are, after all, the full package.
They sing live, they write their own stuff, they look fantastic and they never stray too much from who they really are.
That old adage about a good bottle of wine also applies to Take That.
They just keep getting better and better with age.

Did you catch Take That Come To Town on TV on Sunday night? It was a The Circus themed spectacular, with acrobats, dancers and gymnasts taking over the small stage, and Peter Kay's character Geraldine amusingly hosting a quiz with the boys. They were also on Irish talk show Tubridy Tonight looking rather handsome as you can see from these pics! Review(I don't think I've posted this one)
Saying you dislike Take That in their new-and-improved formation is a bit like saying you don’t like Thumper or Bambi: plain wrong. After all, Gary’s lost all that weight and kept it off, so the least you could do is give the guy a break, right? The second long-player from the revamped Fab Four sees them evolve from pert comeback Beautiful World, spinning their sound to a whole new grown-up level, replete with four lead singers, strings, sha-la-la-laaas aplenty and no little amount of joie de vive. With The Circus, it seems that Take That have flexed their ample musical muscle and proven that they’re no pop clowns…
You see, one of the key minus points of Beautiful World was its lack of upbeat numbers: it was as if by gaining stubble and stylish suits, Take That had shunned their past of jelly and leather-clad frivolity, with Shine the notable exception. Not so here. Hello, Up All Night and Hold Up A Light will all have you slapping your thighs with joy, and the likes of epic opener The Garden and Said It All are enough to rouse the most miserly cynic’s pop sensibilities. Above all else on The Circus, Take That sound like they had a whale of a time making it. Ballads aren’t left out either, with the title track a gorgeous slice of old-school Gary at the piano, matched by the Howard-fronted What Is Love, a song dunked in melancholy that wouldn’t be out of place on the stage of any West End theatre production.
What stands out here is that this is a team effort. All the songs were written by the reunited quartet and vocal duties are shared around the group, with Mark scoring more leads than perhaps even he can believe. But even his propensity to squawk doesn’t take the shine off this record. Each song sounds epic, full of heart-melting melodies and uplifting lyrics. Having seen Take That live last year, RealMusic Blog can only wonder how fantastic this new album will be performed live - it certainly seems to have been written with sweeping-lighters-aloft stadiums in mind.
The Circus is an outstanding collection of songs that are perfectly paced and crackle with positivity. It features tracks that would work in Disney movies, on stage and even has nods to The Beatles on Up All Night and Hello. The pressure on the Fab Four to produce must have been immense, but they’ve exceeded even our expectations. The slimmed down, new-and-improved Take That are jet-propelled at the moment and with this record, anything seems within their reach.

CHART king GARY BARLOW has signalled he would welcome a sensational TAKE THAT reunion with heart-throb former bandmate ROBBIE WILLIAMS .
And he revealed HE was the man who persuaded Robbie to end his US exile — for the sake of his career.
Gary, whose Take That hits include Relight My Fire, said the pair had shared several long conversations about Robbie’s future.
He said: “The band has been having great fun with Robbie over the last few months and we’ve been talking a lot. It’s been really good getting to know him again. He has sorted himself out and is in a really good place at the moment.
“It’s great news that he’s decided to come back to the UK. I’ve always loved working here and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else — and I’ve been telling Robbie for a while now that he needs to move back.
“I think the time is right for him to come back now. I don’t think the US is the best place for him to be.
“This is where he thrives and is the best thing he can do for his career.
“He’s got a lot of unfinished business here and he’ll be back to his best in no time if he comes home.”
The Sun told exclusively yesterday how Robbie, 34, was preparing to return to the UK next year after living for five years in Los Angeles.
He has bought a £7million mansion in the Wiltshire countryside — and told fans on his website he’d “love” to rejoin Take That, who have enjoyed a hugely successful comeback since reforming two years ago.
Robbie, who scored a string of solo hits after leaving the group in 1995, also revealed that he has had the band’s symbol tattooed on his right arm.
Speaking at Capital Radio’s Jingle Bell Ball in London’s 02 Arena, Gary, 37, said he and the band had never ruled out the idea of Robbie rejoining and admitted they HAD discussed the possibility with him.
He said: “Robbie will not be coming on tour with us next year because he’s got his own things to do.
“But we are not ruling out getting together with him beyond that.”
Robbie walked out on Take That after a series of rows. The band split up a year later and went their separate ways.
Together ... Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams at Arsenal match last month
Together ... Gary and Robbie at Arsenal match last month
Robbie launched a successful solo career and racked up a succession of No1s — including Angels and Millennium.
But he hit the skids with the release of his widely- panned seventh album Rudebox in 2006 and became a virtual recluse in LA.
Meanwhile Take That got back together in the same year and once again became the biggest pop act in the UK.
In the emotional message on his Inner Sanctum website Robbie — who was pictured with Gary at an Arsenal football match last month — said he was thrilled by the group’s remarkable return to the top.
He said: “I’m over the moon for the boys. Having met up with them I can tell you they’re having a ball. I’m really really proud. I love the new album too — haven’t stopped listening to it.”
He added: “I’d love to be in the band again but I’ve got some unfinished business of my own.”
And he signed off by saying: “I’d like to think we’d be the only band in the history of music to get together because of artistic differences.”
Gary previously admitted the majority of the fallouts in Take That stemmed from clashes between him and Robbie.
Guest
Despite his solo success, Robbie maintained a bitter war of words with the band after he left, launching a series of personal attacks.
But this seems to have been laid to rest now.
The prospect of Robbie rejoining Take That brought a mixed response from fans and record industry figures.
Music mogul SIMON COWELL said Gary and his bandmates MARK OWEN, 36, JASON ORANGE, 38, and 40-year-old HOWARD DONALD would be better off WITHOUT Robbie.
He said: “I’d keep it as it is. Robbie could have a guest slot now and again — or a duet.”
Meanwhile, readers flooded on to our online MySun forums to express their views on a reunion — some of which are printed on the right.
Take That’s comeback has proved an amazing hit.
Last week they sold an incredible 432,000 copies of new album The Circus. It has sold another 120,000 so far this week and is on course for one million sales by Christmas.

Thank you!
I'm going to have a Robbie rant,because
1.They seem to believe they need him back
2.Mark has said it would be 'the perfect ending',WHAT ENDING???
They don't need him. He left 13 year and a half years ago. He was in the band for 4 and a half years. I think soon they will have been a four-piece longer than a five-piece(not including the 10 years). That's a long time to have been apart. They just work as a four-piece now, they understand how each other works musically and they're all great friends.
Without Robbie they have achieved the following:
5 albums,3 of which were Number 1.4 Brit Awards. An Ivor Novello.4 huge sell-out tours. 5 number 1's. RTW which was a huge success. 2 Number 1 DVD's. Fastest selling tour of all time. 3rd fastest selling album of all time. Most pre-ordered album of all-time. Other awards-Q Awards,Vodafone Awards,Record of the Year etc. Their most succesful album ever with Beautiful World, which looks set to be beat by The Circus. Not to mention that the music is unbelievable.
I could go on,but they think they need him, they have been much more successful without him,he is doing perfectley fine by himself. It should stay as it is and everyone should realise that's it the smart decision to make.

From the forum
Another great sales week for the lads.
The Circus sold a further 319,265 copies this week, sending its 13-day sales tally soaring to 751,776, making it the fifth biggest seller of the year.
Later this week, The Circus is odds on to become only the third artist album to sell more than a million copies in 2008.
WOW

Well I dislike him as a person more than anything and how he kept mocking Take That and especially Gary even 10 years after he left. It was petty and now he want's to be forgiven? The boys might be big enough to forgive him but the fans certainly aren't.
And his music is **** too.

TAKE THAT have added another date to their sell-out summer tour which will take ticket sales over the one million mark.
And the buyer of the millionth ticket, for the concert at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, will win a prize to include being personally presented with a commemorative disc by band members.
The Circus Live tour broke all UK box office records when tickets went on sale in October. It became the fasting selling tour in UK history, toppling Michael Jackson’s 1987 “Bad” Tour from the top spot.
Nineteen stadium dates have now all sold out, with more than 950,000 tickets snapped up by fans.
Tickets for the newly added final show, on June 17, will go on sale next Tuesday at 9am.
It’s the first time the Millennium Stadium has been re-booked for consecutive shows since 2001 when ex–band member Robbie Williams sold out a July 14 concert and re-opened the following night.

Millionth Ticket Winner Revealed!
To celebrate the incredible success of Take That’s tour sales, a special VIP prize has been awarded to the person who bought the millionth ticket!
Lucky Jill Rees was phoned live on air by Cardiff Red Dragon’s Breakfast Show to be told the exciting news. As well as having a special commemorative disc presented to her on the night of the show by the band, Jill wins a hospitality box at the Millennium Stadium with food and drink and a room for the night at the brand new Cardiff Radisson Hotel.
Jill said: ‘We were excited enough just going to the concert but now we’ve got our own box and can meet the band…I’m speechless’.
Take That added, ‘To sell over a million tickets and play 20 stadium dates is absolutely mind blowing…We’re all really looking forward to getting back out on the road again, and we’d like to say thank you to everybody who bought tickets – see you next year!’

I didn't know where to post this; like in the article thread or make a new thread.
Apparently GA have signed up with Take That to do a collaboration as the official Comic Relief single for 2009.
Gary Barlow has apparently asked for it to be an original song, also.

Take That: The Circus - new album review!
Nov 27 2008 By Paul Cole
(Polydor)
THEY defied expectation when they made their Beautiful World comeback. They smashed all records when they shifted £35 million of tickets earlier this month for their New Year tour of the UK.
So could “difficult second album” syndrome be avoided when the Man Band went into the studio to record the sophomore set of their Second Coming? Would The Circus really come to town?
Well, yes and no. Like its predecessor, THE CIRCUS (Polydor) boasts one killer track. Hit single Greatest Day is as pop-perfect now as Patience was back in 2006. It’s easily the best song here.
Next up are Gary Barlow’s Coldplay clones.
You, Said It All and the minor key title track are hugely influenced by Chris Martin & Co. You half expect Barlow to rip off his mask to reveal a manically grinning Martin beneath.
Not that it’s a bad thing. Take That have added hummable hooks and pop sensibilities to those sublime sonic swoops.
On the other side of the coin, cheeky Mark Owen – now officially the democratic band’s frontman – offers the vaudevillian Hello, a sort of 60s take on ELO’s Mr Blue Sky.
It’s irritating, but annoyingly likeable after a while.
Elsewhere, Up All Night recalls Simon & Garfunkel’s sell-out era, Hold Up A Light has the makings of a stadium singalong amid its sawing strings, and Here (an unlikely songwriting collaboration with Turin Brakes) ends in a Beatley crescendo of sound.
The downside? Songs such as Julie and How Did It Come To This are cheesy, giggly hidden track She Said should have stayed hidden and Will Malone’s strings tend to be overpowering.
Not the Big Top then, but certainly a good show. It won’t matter to the faithful, of course.
They’re already rolling up, rolling up for The Circus, with a third show added at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena just last week.
http://www.sundaymercury.net/news/midlands-news/2008/11/27/take-that-the-circus-new-album-review-66331-22353583/
It annoys me in every single review they go 'oh it doesn't matter what we say, their fans will love anything'. Yes because it's good! Just because we're extremely loyal doesn't mean we won't criticise if it's bad! Jebus they treat us like stupid kids.

Loads of people like Top Gear! I'm sure there's a thread around somewhere. I only watch it cos it makes me laugh till it hurts, not because I like cars!

Ohhhh GA! That's another one I'm getting! And I'm buying Alesha's because I've heard great things about it.
MarkWaldorf
23-12-2008, 01:06 AM
Damn, SO close.
Yeah Alesha's sounds good. Shame it only got to 26 though...GA's album is actually amazing. I'm pleased it's going to be one of their biggest selling.
Princess
23-12-2008, 01:08 AM
Did it only? That's a shame!
The thing with GA albums is I buy them all and then forget to listen and songs come up on shuffle and I'm like 'Ooooh what's that'? Actually that happens to me with loads of albums, lol.
But I will listen to every track of every album I get for Christmas,I'm determined!

Christmas Greetings
Hi everyone
Well, what can we say... we've had yet another absolutely incredible year. The support you've shown us has been astounding, from a number one album and single to a sold-out stadium tour. Thank you so much!
We're all looking forward to a restful and peaceful Christmas at home with our families and friends, recharging the batteries in preparation for another busy year in 2009.
We wish all of you a very happy Christmas and New Year and look forward to seeing lots of you at our summer shows.
Gary, Mark, Jason and Howard.

Dirty stuff? Leave it out. There's Gary and three hangers on.
Princess
24-12-2008, 07:26 PM
Mark has more leads on the lead album than Gary does. This album is the most 'Take That' there's ever been-their personalities shine through and they all wrote the entire album.
Just because Gary used to sing all the leads and write all the songs doesn't mean it is true of right now. And being lead doesn't mean that no-one else does anything. Howard is amazing at harmonies,Jay has one of the best songs on the album and they can all play musical instrumentals and everyone but Gary can dance.

Gary's having a baby girl! Her and Willow can be like best friends!
GARY BARLOW and his wife DAWN are having a baby girl.
TAKE THAT star Gaz and his stunning dancer missus have told their kids, Daniel and Emily, that a little sister is on the way over the Christmas period.
And the nippers have been telling everyone how excited they are about a new addition to the family.
A source said: “Daniel and Emily have been blabbing to anyone who will listen that Mummy and Daddy are having a little girl.
“It was meant to be a secret — but the cat is well and truly out of the bag now.”
Gary said: “We are on emergency over Christmas. We’re due on January 17 — but both of our other children were really early.”
All in all, the Barlow clan are facing an epic new year.
In February Gary is leading a collection of showbiz characters, including me, up Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief.
So he will have to cut down on the Christmas pudding to make sure he stays in shape.
Then, in the summer, Take That will play a UK arena tour in front of more than a million screaming fans.
Gary would be a wise man to make the most of the festive hols. Things are about to get very busy indeed.

I just found out that Girls Aloud and TT are both signed to Polydor so a collabration could definitely happen. Geraldine and The Saturdays also signed to them!
I would love The Saturdays to support on the tour.

The Saturday's are a bit cheap for TT aren't they? They should have Alphabeat?!
Princess
27-12-2008, 03:36 AM
I thought Alphabeat had been dropped? I love them as well though.
For the last 2 tours they've had Beverley Knight and Sophie-Ellis Bextor. The Script are doing Dublin for the next tour but don't think they're doing the UK.

Talking of the The Script reminds me of yet another album I have to get! There's been so much this year, I'll just have to start borrowing and burning from my friends! Other must have album I have yet to obtain are Sara Bareilles, Britney and Gabriella Cilmi. :bawling:

PLEASE GOD let this be true!!!!!!!!!!!
Robbie Williams has decided to concentrate on his solo career rather than rejoining Take That, according to a report today.
The singer recently sparked rumours that a full reunion was on the cards by revealing that he would "love to be in the band again".
Meanwhile, Gary Barlow has confirmed that he expects Williams to make a comeback to the group eventually.
However, an insider told The People: "Robbie told his dad Pete that he'll be pushing himself back in the limelight - talk of a reunion couldn't be further from the truth.
"He might have buried the hatchet with Gary Barlow but the only person Robbie is concerned about selling records next year is himself!"
Williams has also been tipped to join X Factor's judging panel in recent weeks.
