Yeah, it seems to me there's been some huge re-writes or requested changes behind the scenes.
The Lucas stuff is another though. It seems thrown in suddenly out of nowhere rather than a planned storyline.
Marsh.
07-03-2016, 10:49 PM
It's also really hard for me to think of Claudette, Gavin and Kathy as the same age. I don't know why.
Kathy seems so much younger than them to me.
Firewire
07-03-2016, 10:53 PM
Kathy literally looks like she's late 40s and Claudette mid-50s.

It seems they've suddenly realised how stupid it was making Denise play second fiddle to her idiotic sister and have lumbered her with family to keep her from going stale.
I'm not sure why we're getting all these returnees from the Santer era. Whatever about Lucas and Jordan but Jack's a total nonentity and I don't see why they thought Ryan turning up and running away with a couple of grand before finally deciding to turn himself in for murder would make for riveting viewing.
Libby might as well be made full time, though. I could swallow her coming back as a one-off but she seems to pop up every other week now.

I'm glad Honey's back but she's done nothing. I hope she gets a storyline.
Marsh.

Jack's return just highlights even more how Ronnie's storyline is done tbh.
Two years ago he said we'd see her slow descent into villainy and now they've axed her new husband, decided to forget her murderous side and she's playing besties with Honey. She's barely ever on screen but every time she appears she seems to be a different character.
And now they've brought Jack back when their relationship died with their baby. Just tedious.
Marsh.
08-03-2016, 03:37 PM
I don't mind Libby as a recurring. Adds something to the show that you can have characters be around but they don't all have to live on the same street and work on the market.

I think it would have been good if Ronnie had died on New Year's Day 2015. She felt like she came full circle with her finally giving birth to a baby who lived and then dying. It would have been upsetting (I sobbed when I thought she had died) but the perfect end to her character. She's been ruined ever since.

I reckon the damage was done as soon as Danielle died. I really liked her at first (charismatic, mysterious, refined, and slightly cold) but from then on it was as if the writers brainstormed every horrendous trauma that could possibly happen to someone and then decided to heap it all on Ronnie. I couldn't bear the sight of her by the end, especially not with Kat on the show at the same time moaning about her latest crisis.
Marsh.
08-03-2016, 06:59 PM
Yeah, I'd say up to Danielle's death her story was great but then she lost about three more babies after that and it just got too much.
I remember the 'hole in the condom' story she had. :umm2:
A mess @ Vincent. Also I live for evil Caudette

Do all of the houses have basements?
I thought the buildings underneath were separate houses/flats, why do they have a staircase to it?
Glenn.
08-03-2016, 07:05 PM
I'm guessing they built the staircase or the house came with the basement

I never bought into all the Archie nonsense, either. I'm sure we were supposed to find something creepy about their relationship but I never for a second believed that the writers intended him to be a rapist more than I think it was just cobbled together at the last minute to make it super-okay for Stacey to bump him off because she's always a victim and never at all responsible for her actions.
Marsh.
08-03-2016, 07:28 PM
Oh yeah, I got he was abusive and an absolutely evil twat with her after she got pregnant as a teenager. But the rape add-on which was just to justify the "shock" of Stacey being his killer never rang true for me either.
Marsh.
08-03-2016, 07:29 PM
Claudette's face when he started choking her. :joker:
I don't think she's quite the worst actor the show's ever had (mumbling Joey Branning takes that crown) but these dramatic episodes have shown her to be very limited.
I can't believe Eastenders teased a big reveal and it's what everyone's guessed since the family first arrived, that she killed Papa Hubbard.

Nah I'm actually with you there. She may not be the worst actor in the show but she's ridiculously hammy and her atrocious performances kind of detract from the atmosphere and tone of the more "dark" episodes. Not that Blackwood's much better, mind. I couldn't help but ROFL when he did that sensitive voice after he found out.

If so I'm EXTREMELY FUMED. What kind of person axes Kat?!
Never mind anyway. The new producer coming in seems to love Kat and the Slaters judging by his past work on the show so I'm sure he'll invite Jessie back if she has been axed.

I don't know, like I know they had the pregnancy scare because of the Dean storyline.
But what I'm trying to say is it seems pointless them having another child when there 3 children are already fully grown up, like not really necessary to add into the show.
But the Carters are one of my favs as they are one of the most realistic families.
