All this talk about going away to protect the family. Total rubbish.
IMO Diva Meghan just didn't want to cut ribbons and open community centres and never intended to. What she wants is to consort with her mega - rich newly found 'friends' like Elton John, Oprah and the Clooneys, attend fancy galas, get the likes of Netflix deals and make millions by using their royal status. Of course she'll pop into a womans centre or food kitchen for 5 minutes now and then to prove how caring she is.
Harry will trail along behind her carrying her handbag.
The Queen, wise woman that she is, clipped her wings there. No using your Royal status or your HRH. The wise Queen has kept the door ajar for a year in case it doesn't work out, which I doubt it will. Harry will be back, I doubt Meghan will.
Thats how I see it panning out, for now.

Logic 101.

How do you know it was her fault?
You don't, you just want to pour your bile on her.
Disgusting.

Did I say it was her fault.

Post articles on which you base you in depth research. Why so defensive?
Or tweets, clips of interviews.

I used to post them, but they were rarely read or commented on. Maybe the content didn't say what some wanted to hear. I posted a few interviews on this thread actually, with the same result. Ignored.

"make millions by using their royal status"

"No using your Royal status or your HRH"

Logic 101.

There is still heaps they can do to make millions, if they had been allowed to use their status and HRH it was estimated they could be billionaires in 5 years.
Still beats cutting ribbons and having to play 2nd fiddle to William and Kate. Not quite what the Diva was aiming for though.

It's my opinion, based on many things, including my own eyes, my own thoughts and my own conclusions. From what you are saying, you must base your opinions solely on whatever it is you have read. You've slipped up there. I don''t, I'm more discerning than that.
Whether you buy it or not is irrelevant to me.

What is the actual reasoning for this hatred and bile being spewed against this woman. Seriously?
Like what is it that she’s done that makes you really hate her I can’t seem to pinpoint anything. Just lots and lots of speculative assumptions.

Telling you that your irrational hatred of this woman stems from inventing things to dislike about her does not equal adoration.

You're obviously not discerning or rational in your hatred of her to see that.

Edward VIII was King, a massive difference.

For less than a year ;) then he abdicated so he and she could swan back and forth across the Atlantic, living the celebrity socialite life.

He abdicated because he was forbidden from having a relationship with her.

Harry is not giving up a throne and his relationship with Meghan is not forbidden.

Apples and oranges. The only comparison is they both married American women.

Just excuses, and weak ones.

You can't call an argument weak when you try to discount it by saying nothing. This response you offered up is nothing more than pure projection.

Respond to what I'm saying properly or have the dignity to throw in the towel. If you don't like what I'm saying, argue against it. It shouldn't be a problem to someone like you who obviously has all the answers.

I've said how I formed mine, but you seem fixated on my choice of reading material only and reference that every chance you get. Your defensiveness is bizzare.

Defensiveness?

Telling you that inventing things to dislike her for (if anything's bizarre it's that) is not through an adoration of Meghan, it's through common sense. That's literally it.

In terms of them as people, I don't have much of an opinion on them as I don't actually know them.

I have my opinions on the situation, which I've spoken at length about.

Your opinions on the situation are other people's opinions you've decided to accept as fact because they're negative.

"Harry and Meghan are moving to Canada. Harry is moving because he is forced to by his diva wife, Meghan, who wants to go shopping for handbags with Oprah Winfrey."

The first sentence the paper would be reporting a fact. The second sentence is an unsupported opinion with no basis in fact.

Exactly right....none of know half of what is going on but we all form our opinions on what we see, hear and read. Why people feel the need to belittle people on knowledge and research when what we see and read allows us an opinion on someone. Sometimes we have to agree to disagree but judging and categorising people for their opinions is unacceptable.

Jet, this is a serious question. What were you thoughts and feelings on Diana?

I really liked Diana. She had a vulnerability about her that was very human and relatable, a flawed character with a big heart. A genuinely compassionate woman.
She was like a lamb to the slaughter, a besotted 19 yr old marrying a 30 yr old man who didn't love her so she could breed some heirs. She had a rough time with the royal family, getting no help from them when she was floundering and her husband in love with someone else.
But boy, she captivated the world - and what a great Mum she was...
The peoples princess.

Oh so you get the difference between fact and opinion now. I hoped you would. :clap1:
FACT: Meghan made Kate cry in a dispute over Charlottes bridesmaid dress.
OPINION: Meghan only wants to move to the US to make millions.
FACT: Meghan and Harry flew on 4 private jets after preaching to us about climate change.

But your ‘facts’ surely are based on what you read just like other opinions are based on ‘facts’ they have read. It all comes down to individual interpretation of them. To judge someone else’s interpretation of facts as less relevant than your own is coming across judgmental and condescending imo. It’s simply opinion. None of us can catagorically say who is right or who is wrong.

Except that's not where this debate stemmed from.

The only facts any of us have as to the reasons for their move are from H&M themselves. Anything else is merely gossip, unless facts are proven to be true, prove their own words to be false etc. That's where the disagreement in the thread started.

To judge someone else’s interpretation of facts as less relevant than your own is coming across judgmental and condescending imo. It’s simply opinion. None of us can catagorically say who is right or who is wrong.

It may come across as judgemental or condescending, I see that. However, Jet categorically stated his/her opinion was worth more than anyone else's as it was based on solid research of facts (unlike the rest of us mere mortals). Now firstly, he/she refuses to share those "facts" with the group and the only source she shares are the Royal correspondents he/she consistently refer to despite them all being contradictory and biased in their view of events.

I hope that's cleared it up for you, I can see how it can get muddled after so many pages.

That is not the case. I simply said I researched what the royal correspondents were saying as they were better sources whose writings nearly always turned out to be true, and right away and ever since you have tried to belittle me every time I posted an opinion. You continually asserted I was reading trashy tabloids and listening to gossip mongers.

I didn't assert you read the trashy mags, I said you were coming out with the same stuff they were. And yes, I include the biased reporting of correspondents in the gossip mongers.

If you find someone disagreeing with you in a debate belittling than I don't know what to say.

I don't find disagreements belittling in the slightest, I enjoy a debate. But when someone disagrees and repeats the same thing over and over every time you post and ignores your explanations seemingly just for the hell of it, it is unpleasant. That isn't debate, its arguing for arguings sake and I was guilty of that too.

Erm... you haven't explained. The whole point is you have refused to explain.

I believe your excuse was that everyone wouldn't believe your sources anyway. Except if they're as reliable and factual as you claim, nobody could refute them.

Thank you.

There is so much love for Diana and the reason I asked the question is because I personally see so many similarities with Meghan. Please hear me out.

Both Diana and Meghan openly talked of their struggles about being a member of the Royal family and the little support they got on their transition to being always scrutinised. Diana developed eating problems because of it, Meghan has talked of struggling.

Both openly adore (d) their children and wanted as normal a life for them.

Both used the press to their advantage at times when it suited. Diana was a master at this

Both got A List friends off the back of thier fame from being Royal -'Diana with the likes of Elton John, Meghan with the Clooneys etc

The only main differences I see is that unlike Diana, Meghan has a husband who loves and cherishes her and is willing to leave with her before the pressure destroys her and them.

What I find interesting is that no-one has mentioned the fact that Harry is the product of Diana's relationship with Hewitt. He therefore isn't royalty in the first place, so he is not really giving up anything :idc:

If you mean, where do I get my opinions from, they're my opinions. I don't regurgitate something I've read or heard and use it to justify my dislike of someone I've never met.

So are people not allowed to talk about anything else because a children's hospice is being built? There is no loss of reality where that is concerned sheriff.....but you know what, kids will still die whether we talk about the Royals or not. Ranting on a rtv website about people talking about current affairs won't change that. It doesn't have to be one or the other....

So to use you as an example, but you lost your mum and had to deal with it, did you have hundreds of thousands in the bank or did you have do like most work your arse of to pay the bills and deal with life.

They were happy to have the intrusion of the media to have a royal wedding funded by the public to which the invited celebrity’s and ate the best food and finest wine all payed for by us.

But then it’s all to much and they need to escape.

He had a look of Hewitt when he was younger but I think that's been knocked on the head now that he's in his 30's. For me it's more the fact that he's practically a clone of ol' Philip if you look at photos from 50-60 years ago... like there's literally no way he's not Harry's grandfather. Harry just looks very different to William because William clearly got a lot more of Liz's genes. He looks like Edward and Andrew, while Harry looks like Charles and Phil.

I don’t see them being similar at all. They are as different as chalk and cheese in their personalities - and the circumstances couldn’t be more different.
Diana was 19 yrs old when she married, Meghan was 37, a mature woman (or should be) and should have thought carefully about what she was getting into, though IMO she never intended to be a dutiful royal wife, she had other plans.

Diana carried out her duties for many years under terrible strain and bulimia besides before she went kind of rogue, which she had good reason to do, Meghan gave it barely more than a year even though she was welcomed into the family who didn’t want to repeat their mistakes with Diana.
Meghan has the love of a supportive husband, Diana did not.

Diana earned the love and acceptance of the people before she tried to do anything political, like her land mine campaign, and she was actually divorced then anyway.
Meghan came into the family with all guns blazing, looking to make them more ‘progressive’. Fine, once you have earned respect and acceptance, but not off the hoof. I mean, who did the upstart Diva think she was?
After her divorce, with a settlement of a paltry 17 million in royal terms, Diana was offered numerous money making deals from the likes of perfume houses and TV networks and turned them all down. Meghan (and Harry) wanted to give up their public funding, which is only 5% of their income to make millions with commerical deals.
Not the same at all.

In their engagement interview Meghan said she knew very little about the Royals and Harry (remember that?). She said the first things she asked about him was "is he kind"? For many people, that was when the alarm bells rang.

A childhood friend, however, said in a magazine interview that Meghan had always been obsessed with Diana and had books about her on her bookshelf.
There was a pic posted of this friend and Meghan posing outside the gates of Buckingham Palace.

Liz Cundy has said that when Meghan was in London a few months before she went on a first date with Harry, she asked Liz 'if she knew any famous British men' she could date.
Ashley Cole was mentioned, and Matt Cardle. I don't think that was what Meghan had in mind. :smug:

Thank you for your reply. There are parts that I do not agree with, I personally (and I know this is a very unpopular opinion) was not a big fan of Diana other than her as a mother but she more than Meghan knew what she was getting into with regards to the Royals, her birth status meant they were in similar circles. She was also wife of the Heir to the Throne and so had far more pressure on her to conform even though she fought against it for years (as reported by many correspondents). The language you use when discussing Meghan shows that you are not really willing to see any other view of her (upstart diva etc) and I would never try to change anyone's opinion as I personally will not change mine either.

I've enjoyed discussing this with you but I think we have reached an impass now but thank you for your opinions on this.

In Jet's and your opinion. In mine I see great comparisons and I think that is why Harry is so drawn to Meghan, he sees a lot of his mother's attributes in her.

Both strong women
Both uncomfortable with Royal life and spoke openly about it
Both with very strong views on their chosen causes
Both adored their children
Both wanted a "normal" life for their children
Both enjoyed a love/hate relationship with the media depending on how it fit the cause

Anyway, as said its all opinion anyway, only Harry and Meghan know the real reasons behind their exodus.

That's a good point Annie, though she could never have anticipated the obsessive interest the people, the press and paparzzi (who had little restrictions on them, not like nowadays) were going to have for her. The Diana circus was a phenomena that hadn't happened with any royal before or since.

When I first saw Meghan with Harry as his girlfriend at the Invictus games I was delighted for him, he looked so happy, and she looked gorgeous.
It was the engagement interview that I began to have doubts about her, (not that my doubt should mean anything of course) :hee: and there has been too much food for thought since to make me warm to her at all.

Diana and Meghan went about these things in different circumstances, different ways and at different times in their royal roles.

I disagree. Diana was never seen as a strong woman when she joined the Royal family....she really was anything but.
Diana was never uncomfortable with Royal life...
Both adored their children?....most mothers do
Of course they had strong views on their chosen causes...they chose them
Yes they both want/wanted a “normal” life for their children....but when you marry into the Royal family that was never going to be the case. Diana did everything she could to balance normality with commitment and she did a great job..Meghan has pretty much denied Archie his heritage to some extent.

As for the media....possibly the one thing they do share. However, Diana had to deal with so much more press attention at a very young age...Meghan at a mature age had already enjoyed press attention as an actress...so she was well versed.
Most of Diana’s press attention was positive...an endearing vulnerable young lady who played her role perfectly...during her marriage she took on her responsibilities throughout personal difficult times. Meghan however...a beautiful lady but she inevitably bought her diva actress attitude into her role...and it hasn’t gone down well. She could have turned it around at any point...but she didn’t want to.

Especially when his great grandad is virtually bed ridden.

So yea they are such thoughtful people.

Good points, rusticgal.
I think its very sad that Archie is being denied his heritage, and being taken away from his great grandfather and great grandmother, his grandfather, his uncles and aunts and all his little cousins, who he will may well grow up hardly knowing. Harry and Meghans gain (if that is what it turns out to be) will be Archies loss.

It’s just bizarre that the only support she has is from her mother...the rest of her family seem to have a problem with her. Maybe jealousy...maybe that her fame and fortune took her to a different level and she shunned her ‘common’ family?

They have a negative opinion on Megan and Harry and are giving their opinion in a thread that being discussed at various stages because members are continuing to discuss all aspects that include the couples lives and what impact that had on them leading up to their decision to leave the royal family and the uk

The topic of Theo’s thread is not members but Harry and Megan.

:clap1::clap1:i don't know why people automatically think some people 'hate' them simply because they have done and said certain things that people want to comment on , the word 'hate' should be kept for those that deserve it , not thrown around willy nilly because some people don't adore the people some like. It's a forum for ALL to give their opinions.

Similarly, defending them against ludicrous and unfounded accusations is not adoration. So whilst you're lecturing on word useage, mind your own.

I don't get how all this press stuff is slated for being against Meghan. ..if you think about it most of it is a slur on her parents and her upbringing..her poor father, he's the one suffering in all this

Well his relationship with his daughter has broken down and until we know the reasons why he may well be suffering...if it is not of his doing.

He's been disowned by his daughter because of snobbery.

Some people love ice cream, but dislike some flavours.

It’s as simple as that.

The post that it follows.

You'd know that if you were reading the thread chronologically and not just getting huffy with certain forum members. All of my posts tend to be in response to someone, so this "to the masses" comment makes no sense unless you have me confused with someone else.

Have a nice day.

Which is fair enough.

But there's a difference between simply not liking the look/the sound/the demeanour of someone and coming out with wild accusations to explain your dislike. The latter happens a lot with Harry and Meghan.

I’d say take away members names and you Glenn dezzy and two sugars are all using the same words to the same people.

Your making another mistake to think I’m getting huffy, people on have been told when they push my button.

What one person likes in a person is different to what another person likes.

A wild accusation is accusing someone of being obsessed hateful and irrational.

People that like them know the same about them as those that dislike them.

Any persons opinion on them is based on what they have seen heard or read.

An irrational view is an irrational view. That's a debate that ended pages ago. No idea why you wish to rake it up again when the points on both sides are there for you to read.

Not going through it again just because you've decided you've taken exception to a list of usernames you don't like.

Don’t like, hate is word of choice on tibb at the moment.

Yes we have all moved on, yippee.

I haven't used the word "hate" in the post you're responding to. Save the lecture for someone who cares.

Are just shouting at the tv only on tibb with, obsessed hatred is effing bizarre?

One question, do you think any one on tibb is an obbsessed hate filled member or is it just members of the press and public.

Closing this as you all can't seem to stop discussing each other rather than the topic. Someone can start a new one if and when something new happens with this story
