Man City relegation to league one, what is all that what Guardiola recently said he would stay if they had to go down into league one
oh yeah because of Girona's recent successes in La Liga if they reach CL football next season, then the board has to decide which team to fully back then and which one to abandon
I blame Howard Webb for the state of our game now .. he’s fecked up VAR and he’s also told his refs to be far more lenient.. even allowing heavy / reckless tackles ,.
Yesterday saw another skilful player hacked out of the game ..
Villa’s Cash took Bentancur out intentionally

Bentancur out for a minimum of 10 weeks … ankle ligament damage ..

it's not the refs that amend the rules of the game, they do as they are instructed by the ruling body
it's not the refs that amend the rules of the game, they do as they are instructed by the ruling body
It’s up to them to interpret the laws though
So because of all the VAR interruptions Howard Webb wants the games to flow more so told the refs to let a lot go

Villa are a team that gets away with a lot.
I remember at St. Andrews in the season that they got promoted back to the Premier League, where every single Villa player was elbowing Jutkiewicz across the head (to the point where he had to be bandaged up) but not a single one of them got sent off in that game, but oh wait "a Blues fan attacked Jack Grealish that game" so according to the pundits and a chunk of the public, physical assault from the opposition players was A-okay because of what one fan did.
But yeah Villa have always been heavily favoured, who remembers the season where they were going to get relegated under Dean Smith, and they disallowed Sheffield Utd's goal because the "goal-line technology wasn't working" which I'll respond to anyone that believes that really happened with I'm the US Prime Minister.

It’s such a shame how the tough or cynical players are now in control .. this was not the case 18 months or so ago
Look at that Bruno elbow off the ball a week or so ago .. highlighted by Gary Neville shown multiple times in replays .. the ref didn’t even know about it so nothing was done
Now not too long ago such incidents were dealt with retrospectively with a 2or 3 match ban

Unfortunately Football has never in my lifetime been able to have a balanced view on players making contact with each other.
It's either the slightest touch on the opposition player is a foul or you can commit borderline GBH on the pitch.

True enough but it can’t be right to allow deliberate elbows off the ball or the constant kicks and body checks done by Joelinton
Just focus on him for ten minutes .. every challenge he puts in is hurtful, he leaves his foot in everytime and when he blocks people off as they run past he leads with his elbow and often a stamp .. it’s classic Pepe .
Pepe gave an interview years ago where he divulged that he liked the sound when he crunched people
He admitted he’d developed a 3 prong attack where when he went in for a ‘tackle’ he went in with his elbow , knee and foot - then he used to stand over them screaming that they were faking it. !!
There’s footage of one of his assaults assault on Messi on YouTube and Messi is writhing on the floor holding his ribs and thigh ..
If looks as though he’s exaggerating things but he was hurt in two or three areas ..

Pepe doesn't shock me, he makes Joelinton seem like a cuddly teddy bear in comparison.:joker:
Tbh I don't like really physical challenges, especially if it's around the head because that could ruin someone's life if the other player has caught them in a precise area.
Obviously you need some physicality in the game, I agree with you that the Premier League are sometimes letting situations escalate into someone running the risk of getting seriously hurt.

Whilst I agree with you, and tbh there was no real guarantee that Grealish was going to score that particular opportunity anyway (so the "injustice" is quite minor imo) it still was another mistake off the officiating team again, and while it weren't 99.99% likely that Man City were going to score (unlike penalty claims) there still was a decent chance that Grealish might've made it 4-3, which is frustrating to see the competition keep being bogged down by possibly game changing decisions that are factually incorrect.
I mean just this season in the Premier League we've had.
1. Newcastle's two offenses against Arsenal - I mean every replay angle shows the ball clearly went out, I don't know how VAR and the Linesman in real time have both missed that, and the obvious foul from Joelinton on Gabriel after the first mistake.
2. Wolves existing seems to just trigger the Referees this season.
3. Liverpool having a legit goal disallowed against Tottenham.
4. Man City getting a penalty against Man Utd that wasn't a penalty.
5. Man City's two offenses against Chelsea - Again a penalty that wasn't a penalty, and one of their goals was handball off Haaland yet the goal stood.
6. The Man City game yesterdayday.
And to add Blues into the mix we've had one this season.
1. We got an extremely soft penalty against West Brom, I never thought that it was a penalty at the time, and I still stand by that opinion now.
And this is just from the games that I've personally seen, and we're not even at the halfway point of the season yet.
I personally hold a similar view to Mark Goldbridge on this topic, no matter what team it is I am against whatever is going on here with the Referees this season, it's either incompetence or corruption, and personally I don't want any team to face either option.
Especially considering how angry I was (and tbf still am) about England having Stevie Wonder as the Referee in the France match at the Qatar World Cup, these mistakes can cost teams trophies, get teams relegated if it's a League competition, get Managers sacked when they might've otherwise been given more time if the Referee in question hadn't ****ed up.
Basically I'm not a fan, and apologies for the speech.:joker:
i thought it was funny that Pep said he wasn't going to do an Arteta
I do appreciate that about Pep, he also said mistakes happen, the team isn't perfect, no-one is perfect ..... i wish more would accept this reality

Manchester United banned journalists from four media outlets from Tuesday's news conference with boss Erik ten Hag.
United claimed they had not been given right of reply to negative stories around the club.
Journalists from Sky, ESPN, Manchester Evening News and the Mirror were excluded after reporting some players were unhappy with Dutchman Ten Hag.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag and defender Harry Maguire have won November's Premier League manager and player of the month awards.
United lost four of their first seven league matches this season but have since climbed to sixth in the table.
They won November's three league matches - against Fulham, Luton and Everton - without conceding.
Maguire, who struggled for game time at the start of the season, played every minute in the three victories.
The 30-year-old becomes the first United defender to win the award since Nemanja Vidic in January 2009.

January could be important we need a CB and DM and I'd say the league will be in our hands

Spurs and Newcastle are the roughest/dirtiest teams in the PL, no question about it.
Chelsea captain Reece James sustained a hamstring injury in Sunday's Premier League defeat to Everton.
The England defender was starting his first game since 25 November at Goodison Park, but had to leave the field after 26 minutes due to injury.
James, 24, has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons, featuring in only 24 Premier League games since the start of the 2022-23 campaign.
"Scan results have confirmed a hamstring injury," the club confirmed.
"Reece [James] will now begin his rehabilitation programme at Cobham."

Who is at the top of the table?
Before the league stopped, Liverpool were 25 points clear of nearest rivals and current champions Manchester City, leaving the title well within their reach with nine games left to play. After only losing one game this season, the title appears to be theirs to lose.

He ran towards him then lunged forward leading with an elbow !!
Took him out completely
We know it’s deliberate as he does it time after time

But tbf to Emery, regardless of whether the Vile win the title or not, I think that Emery deserves Manager Of The Year as it currently stands, he is massively over achieving with a decent team, but nothing really that special on paper.
I mean I suppose I should give credit to the players as well for pushing themselves past their limit tbf.
But saying all of that, I obviously want Villa to be stopped in both competitions that they're in, it's a bragging right that we're the last team in the West Midlands to have won a major trophy in the Premier League era.

Its taken some getting used to but we're finally seeing what Kai Havertz does. Im gonna eat humble pie and apologise for things said by me but I'm now seeing why he makes the team more solid. Rice is a stud. I'd pay West Ham 20 million more for him. Hes looking like a bargain
The game against Brighton last week was the best I've seen arsenal play under arteta and we follow with another controlled performance today. I'm optimistic for the new year.
We kept Brighton to.66xg for the game. No one does that to Brighton but at time we kind of stepped on the gas and went back to the 100 mile an hour football that we were playing last year. It was the best we played under Arteta

The point I was trying to make was that Arsenal have a great balance this year. They can turn the gas on and off when they need to. Control is the key word. Perhaps not dominating to the naked eye but controlling games. I think I've seen that in the last few weeks.
