Jackson :bawling:
He really needs to go;). I think Marc Silcock is a much better actor than Danny Miller by far but can't see what else they can do with Jackson?

Michael McKell has insisted that his twisted Emmerdale character Nick Henshall did not intend to hurt anybody when he started the village's recent blaze.
The police detective was the arsonist behind January's inferno, which claimed the lives of long-standing residents Viv Hope and Terry Woods.
However, speaking to Inside Soap, McKell explained that Henshall was trying to make amends for a tragic incident from his past when he started the fire.
The actor commented: "Henshall's wife died in a blaze while he was a constable, but the attack was targeting him. Some bad guys tried to take revenge on him for an investigation and Henshall couldn't rescue his wife.
"Because he felt powerless to help, he invested his life in his career and actually became a very good cop in the process."
He continued: "When he set alight Katie's cottage, he only wanted to start a little fire so he could be a hero and she'd need him. However, her mobile phone was switched off and the landline was unplugged because of all the crank calls he'd been making. He didn't intend to kill anyone."
Henshall's behaviour grows increasingly unstable in next week's episodes as Katie (Sammy Winward) discovers the truth about him - leading to a shocking hostage situation

About time Sammy Winward got a serious storyline to show off her acting abilities rather than the usual love plot, sure she will do a grand job:).
I'm glad that soon it seens that the Aaron/Jackson storyline will take a backseat and the focus will be on the start of Kelly's return etc:D.

Getting bored of Charity and Cain now
I love them together:blush:, at the moment they're growing apart and need a break from one another...
It seems that Derek's next target might be Lizzie?, i've also read in the spoilers that Lisa makes her hardest confession so she must finally decide to expose what a vile person he is:).

Looking forward to that! My original plan was to stop watching when the truth about Henshall came out because I already watch EE and Corrie but I'm enjoying it again recently. Seems to have gotten better.

I really don't like Katie but I felt sorry for her tonight:(, Henshall is so creepy. Brenda has a lot of apologising to do to Andy;).
Sammy Winward impressed me tonight, i've always rated her but hopefully now they will give her more main storylines than just the tedious love plots or triangles because she is capable of doing more than that:).
Kerry
16-02-2011, 11:46 PM
I just hope she doesn't fall back into Andy's arms. It's likely she will :(
bbfan1991
16-02-2011, 11:51 PM
Yeah that will happen for sure. I think Chas is just fab:D, her scenes always mesmerise me!
Val/Diane work so well together too:). I actually miss Viv, they should have waited till Kelly came back then killed Viv off as it would have much more impact IMO...

I like Val. She always makes me laugh. Love her newfound compassion for someone other than herself in Amy too. Even though it'd never happen. Fostering someone takes months and months. Social services don't just let kids stay with anyone!

Val's great:D, selfish, scheming and OTT but deep down she's caring and got a heart of gold. I really like Amy too, she's a teenage version of Val:p.
I know, they get things done quickly in soapland:shocked:.

The Dingles are bloody fantastic!:), can't imagine what t'Dales would be like without them.
Cain's attempts to intimidate Jai continue to be unsuccessful, he decides to change tack and target Nikhil instead.
Relations between Cain and Charity hit an all-time low in the coming days when the hardman informs Jai that the feisty blonde used to be a prostitute, declaring that it proves she'll do anything for cash.
However, Cain fails to put off Jai - prompting Charity to gloat as she tells her ex-partner that she has no more secrets and there's nothing else he can do to drive a wedge between them.
Not one to be deterred, Cain turns his attentions to Nikhil and orders the businessman to have a word with his brother or suffer the consequences. Making sure he gets the message, the bad boy leaves Nikhil bound and gagged in a bin!

Given up on Emmerdale, I don't dislike it but watching three soaps is too much for me. The storylines are getting rather absurd too, this Jimmy one is silly and I can't bear watching the assisted suicide one just to see Aaron crying his eyes out every minute. Plus like someone else said, it's turning into the Charity and Cain show, they are so overused.

It is,you are right. I mean, I would be trying every possible therapy under the sun to try and get my memory back. It really is a waste of time for a storyline, should have been nipped in the bud weeks ago.
As I said, I just found it incredible it was still going as a storyline,It's a mystery how the producers think it still has legs.

Is that what happened last night, I really hate this storyline so much that if Emmerdale is on for one of the other Students I cannot watch it.
It really is a ridiculous storyline,he doesn't even talk to anyone medical anymore.I wold never be away from doctors or counsellors trying to get my memory back.
I know it's only a soap story but for goodness sake, it's gone on ages.

Yeah agree with you.
I have stopped watching .Yes it's only a soap story but the fact he is not seeking any professional help in trying to regain his memory for the sake of his kid/s is unbelievable.
Nicola is usually such a feisty character she would have dragged Kelly,Jimmy and the child in for DNA testing the moment she was told the child was Jimmy's.
I have gone from watching Emmerdale to grabbing the remote to change the channel minute I hear the theme tune

Exactly,he hasn't got his memory back, yet they have him making vital decisions as to his future.
As you say, unbelievable and its just a farce now.Time to hit his head again I think and hope it restores his full memory, that scenario cannot be any more daft than the current storyline and its long, boring, drawn out nonsense week after week.

I wasn't surprised,a jury has to be 100% sure, the 2nd woman reported it right off, Lisa took a fair while and had conflicting evidence in that she didn't say who it was right off even to her Granddaughter.
If enough jury members have doubts as to the intent there then they would have to acquit on that one.
I had a friend watch the trial sections and just on what she saw, not really watching the programme before much, she said had she been on the jury she would not have said guilty on Lisa's evidence and the time it took her to report it.
As to Jimmy, oh for goodness sake, his memory is coming back but still he doesn't go to get or even see if there is now further professional help to encourage more of his memory to return. This is a truly stupid storyline.

If Aaron was so against killing him he'd have phoned the police by now or the hospital and had Jackson sectioned. Suicide, afterall, is a crime and Hazel agreeing to it is murder

Jimmy regaining his full memory - *rolls eyes skyward*
The minute Jimmy appears I am off to get a coffee or something, even now with so much of his memory supposedly returning, he still doesn't go for any medical help or other possible help. Its plain daft, the most stupid storyline for a long time in a soap.
He now knows the Kelly character whacked him over the head and still he believes all she says as to her child being his son and still speaks to her, absolute and pure nonsense. Childish storyline and pathetic acting to boot.

I feel for Hazel but it was what Jackson wanted, people may be outraged etc but it was his wish to die and IMO I don't think anyone should have made a decision for him to stay alive.
Jackson could have seeked more help and might have seen there is a way to cope had he have been more positive!

Nasty Ashley  :(
He gives Priests a bad name doesn't he, of course in Emmerdale he has pre-conceived ideas on this matter of helping someone die.
Awful to think that anyone in this plight who wanted a Christian funeral, could be denied one because of Church prejudices.
I am actually surprised that Hazel indicated Jackson had left hymns and things for his funeral,(or did I get that bit wrong),as I recall in a past episode when Jackson was going on about wanting to end it all she was saying it wasn't right to end someones life before their time and he said don't go all religious on me,you know I don't go in for any of that.
I expected a humanistic funeral to be planned.
Anyway, back to Ashley it seems he is another Priest who seems to have closed his ears to the part of Christianity as to, not condemning, not judging and always forgiving.
Kerry
13-06-2011, 10:28 PM
What gets me is his own father did the same thing as I gather but he forgives him as 'she was dieing anyway'. So was Jackson, inside. He just didn't have the means to do anything about it.
I'm not saying suicide is right but in certain situations, who wants life and constant misery? Not being able to do a thing for yourself? I can't think of much worse TBH :(

I have to agree with you,I personally couldn't have likely done what Hazel and Aaron did in Emmerdale but I would never condemn anyone in real life for doing it.
Sadly though it highlighted in part the bigotry of the Church and moreso the fact that Priests bring their prejuduces and hang-ups into their Ministry and force their view on others that they should be helping. That is completely wrong.

Likely so because he has previous convictions too also of course his stating he held the drink to Jackson's mouth.
Good acting on this one though, what I find questionable is how quick the CPS have made the decision to charge him its a serious charge and they likely would have needed months to reach their decision especially in light of the circumstances and this possibly being a mercy killing.

It's a while since there's been a post in this thread....
"Emmerdale's elder abuse storyline comes to a head next week as Laurel Thomas witnesses husband Ashley lashing out at his frail father Sandy.
Upcoming episodes see Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) finally realise that all is not right between the pair, which leaves Ashley agitated as he wonders where his wife's concerns have come from.
As Ashley (John Middleton) quizzes Sandy (Freddie Jones) about whether he's told Laurel anything, the village vicar becomes increasingly threatening towards his dad - before finally snapping and hitting him.
However, a shocked Laurel is standing in the doorway, having seen everything.
Laurel subsequently demands answers from Ashley and a furious showdown leaves their marriage in tatters.
Meanwhile, a tormented Sandy stays at Edna's (Shirley Stelfox) for the night - and she's shocked to learn of Ashley's abuse.
The next day, Sandy and Laurel both return home to face Ashley, who desperately apologises for his behaviour.
However, as Laurel makes it clear that she has only returned home for Sandy's sake, Ashley fears that he's lost her forever. Is there any future for their marriage? And can Sandy ever forgive Ashley?

The storyline has been upsetting to watch, although it is about an issue that sadly goes on in the real world. I feel sorry for Sandy and Ashley is getting more nastier, glad he gets found out soon.
Laurel is driving me mad by not spotting anything, this is realistic as has happened in real life cases of elderly abuse.
Ashley's character has been ruined by this storyline as he was not like this before and if they aim to redeem the character after the damage might already be too much to repair.. Andy is still not forgiven for his treatment of Jo by some viewers!

I am really glad this is coming to a head now, it is a distressing storyline because sadly it likely does occur a fair bit in reality.
I find Ashley's character a very cold one, if he was a real Vicar,I doubt I would ever feel I could approach him just for his general well known comments.
Thank goodness this storyline is hopefully coming to a close and the one thing I hope it has done is open some eyes in the real world as to the abuse of elderly people by at times some of their closest relatives and also by those in charge of their care in residential homes too.
It's been hard to watch, so cruel and demoralising for the character Sandy,no one deserves to be treated that way.

Does anyone else really miss the days of Viv, Terry, Betty, Shadrach and the rest? Nowadays Emmerdale seems to take itself so seriously, leaving little room for comedy and fun, it reminds of of how Corrie was in the late noughties. Even the Dingle family are all doom and gloom these days, it's so disappointing to see, especially due to how good the show was under Gavin Blyth.

Yeah, it's taking itself a bit too seriously these days. Soaps need those light hearted touches of comedy, I think, to create some light relief amongst the story lines.

Yeah, even EastEnders does light hearted storylines these days. I wish Emmerdale could get back to it's best, but it's going to need a lot of work. I put the blame on Stewart Blackburn, but mainly on Steve Frost/November, both of them have ruined what Gavin Blyth built up. Soaps are meant to be escapism, Emmerdale doesn't seem to be getting that.

Chas/Carl need to get back together, great scenes last night and the on screen partnership Tom/Lucy have is fantastic. No-one has the upper hand in moral highground where these two characters are concerned.
They need Chas to find out that Carl killed his father because of her.

I was thinking to myself tonight how I wish Dan was called Dave. Him and Chas make a lovely couple.

So there's two births, two weddings (whether they are fulfilled remains to be seen), and one (possibly two I have heard) deaths during the live episode on Wednesday.

I'm betting one of the deaths is Carl, though I hope it's not Carl lol

Carl and Chas? Maybe Declan gets slaughtered?
Scarlett.

Carl and Chas would be crazy, it'd be a hell of an end to their saga lol, maybe Carl will be a red herring, could be in an accident, but live, while someone else dies (Cameron maybe?)

Happy 40th anniversary to Emmerdale, the cast and crew will do a great job for the LIVE episode tomorrow:). I hope the weather behaves for them LOL!
I still think that Cameron will be the one to die, i'm hoping that it will not be my favourite character Chas.

I heard hints though the the death leaves everyone devastated. Cameron wouldn't get that reaction?
I reckon Ashley Thomas, the vicar!

So where tonight left off
1. Jimmy and Carl were left bloodied up after a punch up (Possible deaths?)
2. Katie and Declan were outside Home Farm getting ready to go to the party (Could something happen on the way there?)
3. Chas and Dan just tied the knot (Could Carl still go into the church?)
4. Debbie was on the way to the hospital (What if the baby/Debbie dies?)
5. Gennie went into labour (Possible birth death?)
6. Cameron was hanging around Mill Cottage (Could he finish Carl off? Or vice versa?)
Find out tommorow!
