They were great. Hope Jack does fix Locke's spine. And I guess what fake Locke said to Richard means that Richard/both of them were on the black rock ("good to see you out of the chains"). Hope next weeks is as good but with it being Kate centric I doubt it...

I have watched part 2 now and (don't know if I should hide it) but anyway...


Don't understand the alternate reality thing lol. If it is not a flashback or forward are they in two places at once?

Maybe it is part of the black vs white thing, with Jacob resetting the timeline and the smoke monster keeping them on the island? Or maybe the other way round.

Desmond being on the plane then not - it appears - when it landed was quite strange also.

One other thing was I liked the scene where Jack meets Locke in the airport.

It means that setting off the hydrogen bomb worked (well that's how it's supposed to appear anyway). And if it did work then it would have killed Widmore, meaning Penny was never born, meaning Desmond would never have went on that race around the world that lead him to the Island, so it's ok for him to be on the plane.

I think the two times will end up colliding though... something has to happen anyway.

Right my most far fetched theory is that, Jacob summoned them all to the island to find a replacement for himself as he knows his time is up and that his enemy will find a way to kill him. Jacob knows they all have their flaws but presents them with a chance to redeem themselves. Those who can't be redeemed are finally free of their burdens and can die peacefully.....my theory leads onto that Jacob is torn between two to be his replacement Jack and Sawyer.....he see's the good and bad in both but knows that one of them will take his place in the end....

I know there's a lot of flaws in this but it just keeps coming into my head....

I think we haven't seen the end of the real Locke just yet. Like someone said before, about when Locke went to see Walt in New York, Walt said "I had a dream and you were in a suit and people wanted to hurt you". The real Lock is in a suit, granted he is a corpse, but still he's in a suit.

Also, If you think back to the episode where Ecko died he told Locke "You can still save them, John" right before he passed out. And what was the answer to Illana's question of "What lies beneath the shadow of the statue?"- HE WHO WILL SAVE US ALL!

I agree that the LAX Jack and Locke conversation was foreshadowing of the real Locke's return, in some form. If Jack had anything to do with Sayid coming back even though the pool seemed unable to save him, maybe its something in Jack's touch now. Or maybe its by another means completely but I'm convinced we will see the real Locke again in some form. They even set up a showdown with the Man In Black considering how he mocked Locke's death. He has no respect for John, and it would be fitting if he had to face off with an enlightened and empowered Locke.

I had a theory on the Jacob talking to Hurley thing after he died that Jacob came from a previous time because he knew he would be killed and wants Sayid saved because it will mean Jacob is not now killed (somehow).

Actually, come to think of it... we don't know what time the Jack group is currently in - it might be a few years before the time fake-Locke,Sun and Richard are in. So that would fit in with what I said there.

Like Sarah Connor said in Terminator about time-travel stuff, 'you can go crazy thinking about all this', hah.

Good idea their......I think Richard was brought to the island as a replacement fr Jacob but maybe he was too greedy or did something very bad and must now live for eternity on the island never ageing or being allowed to leave. Just reading some stuff from that forum.....the Sharks shown when the island was underwater were Dharma sharks.......

What I make of Sayid coming back to life is-

Sayid was really dead. Now in the season 5 finale we saw Jacob touch Locke when he fell from the window and from the looks of things that brought Locke back to life and saved him from the fall, and just after the water failed to keep Sayid alive Jack was touching Sayid trying to bring him back around... maybe now that Jacob has died Jack has (unknowingly) taken his place?

I saw a good theory about Richard and the "chains reference". I thought right away that it was to do with the black rock, but someone said that maybe he has been forced to work for Jacob (I can't remember there reason for this) and him being "free from the chains" was fake Locke's way of telling him that Jacob had died... Was amazing how he beat Richard up though, wasn't expecting that at all. I hope it is a black rock reference though.

Can't wait to rewatch it again tomorrow night on the tele :)

Yeah Josh Holloway was great, I didn't used to rate him much as an actor but he was quality in the season 5 finale aswell.

And I already knew Claire was coming back so that kind of spoiled the ending for me, and other than her return not much else really happened... Just Dogen/Jack/Sayid and the pill. Wasn't interested at all in the Kate & Claire off island scenes.

I'm surprised how bad a reaction it got, I loved it! I'm loving how everything that happened on the island would have happened had the plane not crashed anyway, like Kate being there for the birth of Aaron, then meeting Ethan, ect.

The alternate timeline is clearly, in my opinion, what would have happened if Jacob never messed with anything. It's amazing to see how much of an effect he had on everything. This episode really solidified it for me.

We are now seeing the characters in the alternate timeline meeting up anyway, for different reasons. The producers would have us believe there is some fate guiding them together so they can meet up like before, but I think we are seeing it backwards. Think of Mulholland Drive, where (hidden in case you haven't seen the movie) Spoiler: the part at the end is the real story and the first part is a dream. It feels like, upon first viewing, that the end part is some mixed up version of the first part.

This "alternate" reality is the "real" reality, as it would have been without Jacob's interference. These 5 people meet up, and maybe go on to do something significant. The entity known as Jacob becomes aware of them, and goes back in time to touch each one, "pushing" them towards the events that made them get on the plane and crash on the island. All of the weird "destiny" events and coincidences that put them on 815 and made it crash were Jacob's guidance, but the timeline where they didn't crash is what was supposed to have happened, where they met up by chance, and I believe Jacob, being able to transcend time somehow, saw this and that is where he became aware of these 5 for some reason.

I have a lot more thoughts on this, but I am curious to hear other people's ideas.

I've just caught up after a marthon weekend of Lost watching. I've had about a million different theories about whats going to happen. I think "fake Locke" is Jacks dad, his name as well Christian Shepard got me thinking is he God maybe? and Jack the son of God? Who needs to save people? Is his surname being Shepard a coincidence or is he called Shepard because they're supposed to follow him like with the bomb etc.

I was also thinking maybe they're dead and the island is purgetory and they all have to come to terms with particular issues in them selves before they die on the island and maybe move on to heavan or hell then, like John Locke and maybe the world where they didn't crash is actually heavan cos they'll all seem happy and at peace with themselves there.

and just what is the deal with Desmond? he seems to appear and disappear alot, maybe he's an angel

Just got round to watching the episode. I really liked it. Best of the season I think - it was very well done.

The episode was probably made better because they didn't do a 'flash-sideways' this week, which I hope are leading somewhere (I'm sure they are though) other than just a 'what-if' scenario.

I don't think so, Jacob sounds like God/Jesus with the whole "free-will" bit, to me it's the only explanation that will actualy make some sort of sense. I still think that Jack having the surname Shepard was a clue and his dad being Christian Shepard has something major to do with things. I reckon, it's purgatory and those who've died on the Island have either then gone to heavan or Hell. Notice how Lockes dead body smiled, I thought he's gone to Heavan now and is at peace.

Yeah, I think you're right about Charles, I'm still happy with the God theory, see how Daniel was sent back by his mother and father (Charles) knowing that he would be killed, it's like the whole Jesus being sacrificed to save man kind bit, I think. Can't wait for Desmonds episode, I've always thought he has a key role in all of this

Theory for what will happen next episode:

I think I know why Desmond has been brought back. We've already been told that he is special and time restrictions don't apply to him, and Zoe (the woman leading Widmore's crew) was asking Jin about the electromagnetic pockets (one of which Desmond blew in the season 2 finale). Now in the promo Widmore says "I'm going to ask you to make a sacrifice", so my take on it is that Desmond will be asked/forced to blow another pocket- why I don't know, probably something to do with stopping MiB.

Daniel Dae Kim has hinted that Lost will bow out with a spectacular finale.

Details of the last episode, titled The End, have been kept top secret, but the US actor, who plays Jin-Soo Kwon in the hit TV show, said it will blow fans' minds.

"It's pretty amazing; for me it was very satisfying - after I read it (the script), I had to sit for five or 10 minutes, just reflecting and digesting, because it definitely makes an impact," he told People.com.

"If you think about how many pieces the writers had to put together in order to make it fall into place, it's mind-boggling, and they did such a great job. Some of the twists and turns are just so clever."

Daniel, who has landed a starring role in the Hawaii Five-O remake, has mixed emotions about Lost coming to an end after six seasons.

"I definitely feel like a very important chapter in my life is coming to a close. It's hard not to feel the weight of that," he said.

"I'm looking back with great fondness and pride, and I'm also excited to move forward and start writing the next chapter."

The final episode will be broadcast in the US on May 23.

woah. what an episode! it's all coming together now!

OK so I have a theory. I think the island is a cycle. I think Jack setting off the bombs reset the cycle and now it all starts again but with different people in place. Jack waking up after the bomb like in episode one. The people in the temple being killed of, like the Others were. Ilanna dying like Arzt. Ben, Sun, Jack &co on the beach just like they were in the beginning.

I also think at some point everyone in the alternate universe will 'remember' it. Isn't it funny how this show we've been following about people on an island could actually not be what the show is about at all. That the whole island story is actually just giving you the essential background information in order for you to understand this other reality where they're all remembering stuff!

Cool to find out what the whispers are also!

Libby came back! It was the most adorable thing ever. and we finally know what the voices are. Oh, and Ilanna dying was such a good shock. The groups forming is clear now too. What a brilliant episode. And of course, my 3 year wish has finally come true, as the angel, Libby came back. I think she may be LOST's oracle!

Whispers explained... seems to kind of re-enforce the idea that it is Purgatory, but then again it doesn't because Michael is dead but everyone else seems to be still alive. (if that makes sense) Clearly there is a strong supernatural / metaphysical element to the show though... unless of course it is a red herring.

I thought it was more to do with the fact that he would have to go to hospital and meet a certain doctor who was also on the island. That way Jack and Locke may remember each other but have no reason why.

I think that Desmond is bringing them together as with Hugo to start remembering people/things. The same way Charlie helped him.

I used to think fake John Locke was good and Jacob was bad but he seems to be bad now but then so does Widmore. I went from thinking he was bad to good and now back to bad again after this episode eekkkkk I just don't know!!!!!! I don't think Jack is infected though. Sawyer is a much better leader than Jack!
