Strike? Today
No fecking need go to Parliament In Your Own Time. Saturday is good for that. [School children across the country have swapped the classroom for the picket line today, as they strike over the government's perceived lack of action on climate change. Eco-conscious youngsters are taking part in more than 50 planned Youth Strike 4 Climate protests in the UK. It is unclear how many British students will be involved in the walkout, but up to 70,000 are thought to striking across the world.] [Swedish kid Greta Thunberg started the Youth Strike 4 Climate campaign] https://news.sky.com/story/school-ch...ction-11637262 Not all of these kids will be on Strike many will just bunk off. if the ignorant people in parliament would discuss how to deal better with climate change, then the school children won't need to be on strike
but this goes for my country too, so ![]()

Solar energy instead of nuclear energy is also a good and climate friendly option

They couldn't call it a strike if they went on a Saturday Arista
![]() My opinion? meh it's one day, I think it's kind of insulting to assume that none of the kids genuinely care about the environment and it's just an elaborate why of getting a day off. I have two teenagers and they're both very environmentally conscious. Lots of teens from their school arrange things like collecting plastic from our beaches etc on their days off and in their free time so I don't think it's far fetched to think that these kids may be genuinely trying to help some how

![]() ----—---------------_---_____------- On the Thread topic... I mean... I get what these kids are trying to do and it's honourable etc. but I think they might have misunderstood the purpose and effectiveness of strike action, which is that its supposed to cost the company (or government) you're working for money or productivity or both. Which is why things like airline and other transport strikes are so effective; they become very expensive, very quickly. Teenagers striking from school for a day doesn't actually cost the government anything, so I don't really see how it's going to be effective, other than as a publicity stunt. well at school it's just those books about climate, weather patterns at protests you can get the attention of everyone for climate change conclusion: Protesting about climate change is better than sitting at school and reading about it in books and doing nothing

Wait until they find out that climate change is just a money making scam.
Kids striking? It wouldn't have happened in my day. We'd have got a good hiding. Last edited by Alf; 15-02-2019 at 01:32 PM. |
