London for the past 3 years. I really dont like it to be honest. I think people are way too cold, they dont smile, they look at you funny if you are talking loudly. I dont know, its just like everyone is either outrageous, or constipated. And there are lots of crooks, from store owners trying to short change you, to big time crooks!! Its a hustler's town!
I dont like big cities anyways. I am only here, because I was dumb enough to choose a grad school in London to go to. I am done in june anyways. I like the multi culturalism, but its segragated. Everyone lives on their side and have neighborhoods, that are all segragated. I am not used to that, grew up in Africa, and in Tucson Arizona, so I have always seen people mixing.

Anyways, naa, I dont like London at all! Its expensive, and I dont like the people here.

I always heard America was more of a melting pot than the UK, but others have said the US is more segregated. I guess the former must be true. I really wish people would mix with eachother more.

I am sure there are places in America like that, if you go to big cities, is where you see it most, even in DC, or NY! But if you go to a regular town, or a college town where there is a major university ( I lived in one) , its not segragated, and so much more enjoyable. I cant wait to go back to be honest!

Thats srtereotypes that you hear. I guarantee you, people from the south, bar some of the notorisouly racist cities, are a lot friendlier, and integrated, than people from the north and big cities. GO to Washington DC and check it out! IVe spent some time there, so I know about that city at least.

As an outsider, I've never found London exceptionally rude. I put this received wisdom down to stereotypes and cliches more than anything else. Transport staff in the capital are arseholes in my experience though.

Thats the thing though, if you didnt grow up here, you its not easy to just feel at home. Like I said, its a hustlers town. Most people come in here to make some money, so they arent very friendly. But if you grew up here, its all gravy!

I'm not a Jimmy Carr fan, but my favourite line of his from 8 Out of 10 Cats is...

"living in the country is great... unless you want to go anywhere, see anyone or do anything"

Nooo!!! Dont come to London! It will change you. You wont be as nice anymore.
Just come and visit if you want to party and stuff, but make sure you leave!

I LOVE London, it's just got everything.
I honestly never wanna move away, I've even applied to unis here.
Where I am specifically, we're only 40mins via tube to central london, there's a nightbus from tottenham court road that drops me literally outside my house, but we're also far enough out that there's fields and stuff about 10 minutes drive down the road.

I like where I live! It's quite a nice area, if you excuse the chavs, and the town centre here is great for shopping and culture and that. and we're only about 20 minutes from london on the train so it's really convinient :]

I live in a grotty industrial town. I hate it, you have to go to Stoke or Birmingham to do anything decent and a lot of people around here are extremely rough.

I dont pay to park anywhere. I dont lock my car or house. There has been snow in the garden since the 16th of December and there is still 14cm now. It has been sunny for the last 10 days in a row.

cracking.
