Ok to be fair; I'm talking about when I was a kid which is like 20+ years ago now

and "All" was an exaggeration but it was the vast majority, and any who didn't were made fun of. A lot. Maybe its even a Scottish thing but I assure you it was very real to be accused of being "a girl" or of course "a gay" if you were a boy who didn't like football.

Maybe as I suppose a lot of boys will get really into it to "impress" a parent? But of course, emulation of parents is a whole part of the gender divide, too. A lot of "tough guy man's man" guys do NOT like it if their son is less so and will heavily encourage "boy behaviour".
Likewise "girly mums", of course, less likely to approve of their girls being boyish in their interests.
