Not sure if this is directed at me but that is far from my only take in this thread

Just an obvious thing to consider that most police are indeed good and doing a tough, dangerous job out there where their lives are literally on the line a lot of the time. If people don't see that, that is sad as well.

That doesn't change how the officer(s) on the scene of the George Floyd case and certain other cases do a HORRIFIC job where they're not even in danger at all, which deserve justice and those cops to burn and be punished.

I think the point is that the entire system is corrupt, allowing the scum to flourish (as in most systems of power) so "there'll be loads of good people too" isn't really the point.

Like I said, the system needs change too as well as a good look into the officers' pasts and maybe an overhaul of the ones who have made questionable/poor decisions & actions while working in the past. This is why I totally agree with the peaceful protesters right now and don't even mind the more violent ones (minus that major beating of sword guy) despite not agreeing with the latter course of action

That wasn't the only take away. It's just still a point that's worth mentioning when people are trashing the police as a whole because of specific incidents that doesn't equate to the majority.

Today on Twitter I've seen cops pepper spray a young girl, a video of a cop tackling a 14y/o black girl to the ground and punching her, an 80-something year old man with a cane get tackled to the ground by a cop, NYPD cars ploughing into large audiences of peaceful protesters AND also read about a peaceful protester who got a rubber bullet to the face which exploded her eyeball and left her permanently blind in that eye.

The woman who was blinded was actually a journalist doing her job
