They CAN, I'd even say that it's usually a better way of getting the point across because these days, getting sweary and aggressive isn't noticeable, it's just standard internetting and anyone wanting real debate is going to say "meh, next"... but I don't think it's a requirement... people can use whatever language they want so long as they're not being directly abusive. Assessing the audience they want and how seriously they want to be taken is down to the individual. Maybe sometimes it's cathartic to rage into the abyss even if you know it isn't effective. Some days you want to paint a convincing argument... some days you want the world to **** off and die .
